Yep, and most people don't realize that their batteries are actually like 7,000 18650 lithium-ion batteries wired in a series.
The same batteries we use in vapes, hobbyist flashlights, and RC cars. Just two massive boxes of thousands of cells.
You know those videos of a vape mod cooking off in someones pocket? That's a pretty violent thermal runaway. Now multiply it by 7k lol.
ACTUALLY, THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT COST for a TESLA is approx. $30Kand when the car "warranty" expires... IT'S JUST LIKE WHEN YOUR GAS CAR'S GOES DEAD....you have to PAY TO REPLACE ;EM....no insurance covers it!
water + lithium = boom
And full of fumes that are most certainly awful for first responders.
Let's totally create even more hazards for the people who have to inhale these regularly.
The Batteries are natural chemically reactive to water. Salt water usually gets the most impressive and quickest results though. Chemistry in action

7,000?! It is only 444, but I get your point. EDIT My bad, there are 7,000. I was looking at a single module.
The stupidity hurts.
Please let your liberal EV owning climate tard friends know the car can't catch fire if you only park in your own garage! It's like, science.
Triangle of combustion - Oxygen, Fuel and Heat. You have to remove one of those to put a fire out. Hard to do on lithium ion batteries.
Sand. Smother the vehicle.
CAN'T...Putting sand on it will cause the sand to heat and melt the crystals in the sand to VIOLA' --- GLASS GLOB!!!!!π€£πππ
The heat is distributed more slowly which is the best way to suffocate a fire like this.
The melting point of quartz is pretty high anyways. Only lightning strikes are capable of instantly vaporizing quartz sand.
A battery doesn't need any of those
It needs to be charged and have a shorting conductor
1,500 gallons....AND THE FIRE IS STILL GOING....omg
Wonder if insurance covers those $10K batteries? Or are their warranties on the crap?

There's a reason this technology never took off a century ago: it sucks.
Someone needs to make a sealed container for these. Create a vacuum in the container.
And then just get it over with and dump them in the ocean.
Fuck that. Dump them on Newsoms lawn.
Itβs a cartastrophe!
Water + DC electricity = Hydrogen
You can figure out the rest.
.... the other bubbles are oxygen
Imagine something like this happening when taking an electric car through one of those automatic car washes.
OMG
Just let it go boom. Get out the way it gon go booooom!
