Except in Star Wars, the Jedi are actually the bad guys...
It's funny I saw that theory as a joke at first on "How I met your mother" (the barney character always cheers for the 'bad guys' in movies)
Then I saw an in-depth analysis to explain that conclusion; if it wasn't for the "rebellion" the galactic republic would never have the need to become an Empire.
Even down to the jedi have green swords the empire uses red, presumably to be menacing... but when thought of as green=go and red=stop, and that in every fight scene the jedi are always taking the first strike...
Then the factor that it's the jedi that talk about needing to recruit children, where Luke Skywalker was deemed 'too old' to train.
Invisible force that runs throughout the galaxy = Comms.
When Darth Vader chokes the officer from across the room, it is symbolic of using Comms to trigger a cell to take out a target (this is "reach").
A New Hope came out in 1977. Luke Skywalker = Jimmy Carter. Reconcile farmer background. Vader is Reagan/Bush forces.
Ask Q what "stolen data tapes" implies in 1977.

Yes, definitely those films were first made as comms.
As a more casual watcher though, one could make a well-formed argument on either case.
Just like the prequels, there's a strong correlation between 9-11 and how Palpatine went from a senator to the role of emperor by manipulating the trade deal (it's been a while and not rewatching those anytime soon)... the film is essentially showing the problem->reaction -> solution process.
