As a retired math teacher, I tutor now and get a lot of work. There's a family I work for who immigrated here, legally or illegally, I don't know. They homeschool their daughter and I stop by twice a week to help get her through high school math. They never shared with me what they do for income. Today, I came over at a scheduled time and both parents wearing the medical boots we have frequently seen of noted politicians and celebrities. When I inquired, they told odd stories of how they fractured their ankles in two separate incidents. I found the stories hard to believe. Hanging around this site and VOAT before that, I know that these boots have been used to hid ankle monitors.
Do you think I have a reason to be suspicious?
Although many immigrants come for the opportunity to work hard without the government cracking down on them, there appears to be a class of immigrant who mastered the art of government corruption before coming, and came here moneyed from corruption. They tend to plug in to corrupted networks, and to further corrupt the system. Many connect upon arrival. I have seen dentists and doctors who think nothing of scamming Medicare.
Given the huge number of unsealed indictments, it would be strange if nobody here knew some of them personally.
I would be suspicious, but also work hard not to pollute my thoughts, or act as if they were guilty without actual knowledge. If their stories seemed contrived, they probably were. Especially when it's two of them. But they also just might have been embarrassed about slipping in the shower while chasing their dog.
The sealed indictments were the other variable in the equation that made me suspicious. They have treated me nice, pay me well and on time, and given me no cause for suspicion until I saw the boots. I'm going to keep working for them until I see a clear cause not to.
Maybe it was just an embarrassing thing so they make up stories. Can't say "well we were in the shower going at it like rabbits when our daughter walked in ..." hehehe
So we have Sikh Indians and Burmese immigrants coming in by hundreds into our area. The Burmese very poor, on the other hand the Indians are all living in $500k+ or higher homes. Drive very expensive cars and pay for their parents and grandparents to live here in homes of the same kind close by in same neighborhood. The wife works from home as an IT consultant and I have yet to see the husband leave the house much at all. One income can’t pay for 2 homes of that magnitude. A lady down the street said they were receiving money from Indian Govt to live here. I have no idea but something very fishy is going on.
This family has the same situation. The father, who is from Yemen, is always home when I'm there to tutor. Either he's extremely worried about this 65-year-old man working with his teenage daughter or he doesn't have a regular job. They live in a nice suburb in my county. I would guess his age as late 40s.
True, but I didn’t survive 40+ years of public school teaching by molesting minors. Although, I understand the propriety they want.
Chandler15: So you never have Customer Service calls with people speaking in Indian accents? Happens to me all the time. In fact, all over the world accents. So relieved when I get an American on the line.
I sure do! I’m familiar with those calls because I work in IT. We pay them $3/hour in India to take customer service calls. We don’t pay them $100k year to be on the phone as customer service in the US though. This couple is paying for Grandparent and Parents $500k home expenses down the street and their own home. They just purchased their home for $690k and they all drive $60k cars. Or maybe the Indian Govt is paying them all to live here? And this is one family. There are now hundreds living in this area buying up every house that goes on the market. I also prefer an American on the phone who can actually understand my English!

...I will cede the "math" to you....

Well let's see. 179/100,00 = .001799
Now chances of it happening twice in the same family? .00179 * .00179 = .0003% = a snowball's chance in hell this is random.
...exactly....
Wouldn’t some baggy pants be a little easier?
LOL, I see what you did there
...doggy grins...

In other words, it's rare. For a couple old enough to have a teenage daughter, I suspect the rate would be higher, but not that much higher.
...precisely....
Could be just a series of unfortunate events.
Could be. It was the way they told their stories that made me suspicious. Also, I thought a broken ankle would require a cast rather than a boot. Any medical professionals with opinions? How many believe the stories of the boot wearers we have seen in the media? How many thought that No Name needed the before "his passing"?
Last April I fractured my ankle, and I had to have reconstructive ankle surgery. If you break a bone in your ankle, or the doctor has to put screws in your ankle or anything like that. Yes, you will have a cast for six weeks. Minimum. Then after that you get the boot. The boots another six weeks. Then, after that… You have to wear extremely supportive shoes, and go to physical therapy.
The first six weeks that you have the cast, you cannot put any weight on your foot at all whatsoever. I had to use a walker to get around the house for six weeks. Or if I was out in public, which was rare, I used a knee scooter. Once I had the boot, I had to use a walking cane to help me Segway back into walking again.
However; I’m sure I am one of the few patients that followed my doctors orders precisely. But because I did, I can walk perfectly now. I have no problems with my feet or my ankle.
To be perfectly clear… I did have problems with my ankle before I broke it. I should’ve gone in and had it repaired long before it broke. So it worked out in the end. But… Broken ankle means a cast for six weeks. Non weight bearing! End Of!
I got a brand new boot at a Christian thrift store for five bucks. The kind that has a Lil pump in the front. It worked fantastically. And it was gray not black, so it was much nicer than the ugly black ones. But I’m done with all that now. I don’t need any of that stuff. I’m so grateful.
If I may ask, what is the stories they told you? If not, understand. I fractured my ankle in high-school so bad they wanted to break it to reset it. Mom said no! No boot, no cast, just crutches. Years later ankle surgery and a cast, the damage was worse than the mri and CT showed once they got in for the surgery. Talk about a rude awakening!
The dad said he slipped on ice while cleaning off his driveway. We’ve had an abnormally warm winter in NE Ohio this winter and no one has had to deal with ice since late January. The mom said she landed wrong in an aerobics class. Trust me, this lady doesn’t do aerobics. Their stories set off my BS detector, but I didn’t call them on it. I politely gave a sympathetic response, then went about my job.
If I were deep state reading these comments, it would scare the crap out of me.
I wonder how many of us there really are.
And the deep state shills trying to plant plausible deniability are painfully obvious.
I work out at my local university. People I have met there have to be deep state ops. When Roe went down, they openly talked of organizing and recruiting protesters.
Plant a hidden camera so when you leave you can see if they take them off.
FBI does it illegally... why can't you?
: )
I like what they pay me.
Fair enough. Maybe the daughter knows... make up a practice story problem for her and see if she cracks.
"Two people, a man and a woman, enter a store. They rob it. They take $50 but later they spend $10.30 for gas and they pay with the stolen cash. But they get caught and have to wear ankle monitors until their trial. How much money did they have left when they got arrested, and do they get to take their boot off at home when no one else is there?"
She is a teen, but funny math problem.
Just to play devils advocate, lol. I've had to wear a walking boot twice in my life. Once 10 uears ago (missed two steps at home, avulsuon fx of anterior joint capsule of the ankle) and last summer jogging with hubby not paying attention rolled ankle at side of road where asphalt dropped off. One of the worst sprains I've ever had, swelling cut off circulation, still incredibly painful almost 9 months later, although I don't wear the boot now. Nincompoop docs says there is nothing wrong with my ankle. I'm a PT, I've done my exercises since day one and it's pretty obvious something is wrong, but hey. But yeah, seems highly unlikely both would have them from totally unrelated Incidents, at the same time.
There are a lot of ways to make money in America illegally. All those discount beverage stores like D & C, B & G, L & Z etc... sell lots of products off the books, that's why Sam's sells all kinds of individually wrapped snacks. They also sell cigarettes and booze at inflated prices for EBT and ring up as food sales. 10 years ago that caught one store selling 30K a month in food stamps, average store did 7k.
Also those who come with a lot of money buy homes and rent out all the rooms. There are people with good jobs who want to live upscale lifestyles and will pay to live in a large home with amenities like pools and maid service.
Businesses that deal in cash like laundries and car washes. Laundry does 30K a month, but on the books its 12k.
Then the drugs, the fentanyl doesn't sell itself.
These people have found little niches in our culture and fill the gaps.
Alternate perspective: the husband and wife have a physically abusive relationship. I've seen that kind of couple before where every six months one or both has a cast and a wacky story for how they got it, when no one around them is fooled.
You sound nuts. I know tons of people who had stress fractures and had to wear a boot. I had tendonitis and my doctor wanted to put me in a boot, I said no. Maybe you aren’t familiar with how money grubbing doctors are.
I taught school for over 40 years averaging 125 each year. I saw a boot mainly once every three years, students and staff combined. I see them more here on GAW than I see in real life.
My most important questions about suspicion would focus on the daughter. Is she well-adjusted? We had a very messed-up girl as cleaning help at one point, and she was a mess and was triggered by a request to do a task that involved briefly entering a room I was in, with the door open and with other people present. Now that I'm learning about MK slaves…lots of congruence with that family and the overall situation.
