Its more traditional than you think, during the Civil war, southern farms were targeted to cut food supplies by the Union Army. War of the roses saw the destruction of many serfs farms on both sides. Feudal Japan often used agricultural warfare to leverage surrendering of a castle.
I think the overall point is that in traditional war, you have two sides fighting each other. Right now it's everyone vs the people, and the people are too busy hating each other to fight the everyone.

I wouldn't completely rule this out, although I would speculate that it is not so much "infected", but instead tearing down the highly centralized infrastructure that can easily serve as a vector for control of the population.
The important thing to remember is that we need to completely reimagine all of our critical infrastructure. Food is probably the most important of these. This can't really be done while these dominant, centralized sources remain. Centralization always leads to control. We need to get back to a decentralized, mesh style production and distribution arrangement, made up of thousands of smaller operators that value resiliency over efficiency.
These large, corporate operators aren't going to go away willing.
Would be interesting to know if those facilities that have already been destroyed were using the mRNA vaccines in the animals. If so, we don't need that food supply.
