Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
What Financial Preps are you Making?
As titled; As far as I can tell, and with zero hyperbole; we seem to be in truly historic times.
Events that typically only happen once in a lifetime - or less often - are converging all at the same point in time.
What are you doing to prepare yourself financially for what appears to be the coming reset / collapse of the US Dollar?
Gold & Silver? Cash?
Not asking anyone to divulge specifics, of course, but % are safe; i.e.; putting 50% of assets into gold & silver, 25% into food, 25% into lead, brass & copper, etc. etc.
Curious to see what my frens are doing to prepare for these crazy times.
Thanks!!
(This was a thread / post, but I was asked to move the discussion into here, in case you saw my post. :-) )
I buy nothing on credit, I have put away over 300 oz of silver, my basement has enough stored food and military mres to last a couple of months, my son has bought all these bottles of booze for barter, we dont drink it. I have some paper dollar money too stored away. I do not use a bank, I use a credit union. I have a nice balance for credit, but I guess it would be useless if forced to use it. Unfortunately, the mortgage has 7 more years to be paid off, that worries me but not too much.
Thanks for your response!
Are you getting more heavily into gold & silver with the latest bank collapses & such, or continuing what sounds like your relatively well-balanced approach?
I have been doing silver and gold as a savings plan since the Enron collapse. Over those years I've been able to buy cars, small farm equipment with cash, but I always keep about 300 oz in the safe for emergencies. Right now silver cannot seem to escape the $24-$25 fence it's in. So, instead of saving 400 a month in the bank, I purchase silver. I do have some savings in the credit union. If Silver ever goes as high as it did during the fiscal collapse when George W was around, it would be hard to not cash it in, we shall see. Buy on the dip and hold.
Roger that. Thanks again so much for the advice.
you are welcome!
My approach is to place the bet on the the humanity becoming free, and also prep for at least a few weeks to a couple months of extreme turmoil.
Whatever you are betting on, make sure you divest between various things and hope in the end your losses are compensated by your wins.
Yep, absolutely. Diversify and continue to act logically & rationally; don't panic invest....
I hear you fren.
IMO: the biggest downside / risk I see is mere opportunity cost.
Let's say you decide to take $100k cash and invest it among gold, silver, firearms & ammo, food, etc.
Pretty much all prep / tactical gear maintains decent resale value, if kept in good shape.
Firearms & ammo outright appreciate in value, though of course I'd never tell anyone to buy them specifically as investments. It's just an added bonus & reason #7,620 why guns are awesome. :-D
Gold & Silver; held over the long term, they are THE definitive safe-haven asset; no long-term risk there, realistically.
Food; if you prepped right, you stockpiled stuff you already eat, so it means fewer trips to the grocery store in the future.
Literally the only downside I see to prepping is opportunity cost; if you had plunked that $100k into stonks instead.
But personally I see the stock market as unreasonably risky right now, maybe I'm wrong / paranoid.....
But the #1 rule of money is; Don't lose money.....
I take a much wider view when it comes to stock market. Its not unreasonably risky right now. It has always been unreasonably risky by design.
Stock market went from a place to invest in companies based on their value, into a vehicle to launder central bank fiat currency after 70s, definitely by 90s and rise of the tech.
Think of stocks as vehicles used by smugglers to transfer their goods. You are feel to ride on it, and you might even get to far away nice places, but its equally likely you might get caught in the crossfire.
This is exactly what happens in stock market. Until we can go back to the world without no funny money, no derivatives, no wall street and where stock value only depends on the real value of the company, as established in a free market, its best not to think of stocks as investment, but as gambling.
Ha, that's funny. As I started reading your first sentence, "gambling" is EXACTLY what sprung to mind!
I don't remember exactly where I heard it, but I definitely remember hearing that recently that the stock market has really always been gambling, unless you are an insider....
I hear you & agree..... I guess I can throw some money into commodities, mining stocks, etc.....
Are you in the market at all? If so, what sectors, If you don't mind? :-)
Can somebody point me to a website or forum that keeps up to date on news and progress in the defense against child trafficking? I used to use the Global Incident Map but it rarely gets updated. DOJ press release is okay. I would like something more citizen-run and less government-run
Not sure if any of these are specific to child trafficking, but they are excellent resources.
I hope they are of some use to you & frens here.

So, Martha Stewart is on the Sports Illistrated 2023 SwimSuit cover as the oldest model they ha e ever had on the cover. And they are calling it " historic", she is 81. Js.
I just frew up in my mouf
That was my initial reaction also!
I have to wonder if the rumors are true that she made Snoop Dogg special brownies, and took advantage of him. Kek!
Operation Sweep it All Under the Carpet in full effect and even pundits supposedly on our side are participating.
Sad to see Anons unable to grasp the big picture.
Pay attention to who is ignoring or telling us to ignore the Durham Report. Also, watch all the 'pundits' turning back to polls against Trump. The man's numbers are untouchable........ ALL of the crap about other candidates is noise.
What language do the people flooding our borders speak?
IDK but definitely no arabs / arabic-speakers, and CERTAINLY no terrorists flooding thru our purposely wide-open borders:
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/watch-border-patrol-apprehends-afghan-terror-suspect-entering-us-migrant-group
So I recently spent a week in San Antonio and I can tell you that the answer to that question is "a variety" of languages. There were so many people there obviously from different parts of Central, South America and Caribbean. Very strong features and skin tones. San Antonio has turned into a 3rd world shithole, which is why we moved away (after 40+ years!) last fall. Our local grocery store (HEB) went from featuring bbq, bluebonnets, Mom and apple pie to having an ENTIRE AISLE devoted to Central American foods and an ENTIRE AISLE devoted to South American foods. The stores were packed with tatted up men and young women who looked like strippers. People riding bikes along the freeway. Construction and trash every where. Property taxes THROUGH THE ROOF, and no wonder. Somebody's got to pay for all of these people. Oh, and another thing, kind of odd - so many with handicapped license plates. We are a military family, we both grew up in the military, we've lived all over the world, I'm an RN, so we are used to being around all different kinds of people from all different places but we are no longer comfortable in San Antonio, Texas. We voted with our feet, sold our over priced and over taxed home, and moved up to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Eastern TN. So far we like it.
San Antonio has been like that for decades. There have always been Mexicans and Latin Americans in San Antonio. I promise you they are not the issue.
#1 problem with San Antonio is the homeless people and increasing number of mentally disturbed blacks. I used to walk downtown taking pictures late at night and felt so safe, now I cannot go out past 11pm without being on guard. Even during the day, you get harassed or attacked by homeless people (and they are all black)
#2 problem is massive voter fraud. There was actually a Veritas on voter fraud there but no one has done a thing. I would take a look at the Bexar county GOP and see how diverse their base is. They are mostly all pro Trump, pro 2a, for God, and regularly march for On Q causes. Thankfully this is Nirenberg's last term, and I hope a patriot runs.
HEB has always had a big selection of Latin products including plenty of pro Trump liberal triggering Goya products. It is part of what makes HEB great. Next time you are in Texas please go to a Central Market, that is HEB's upscale grocery and you will find the demographics you want.
Did you go to La Cantera area? Because quite honestly if what you want is a classier San Antonio, that is where the affluent and clean looking people go.
I still love San Antonio. Mind you I was born in the 80s so I do not know or remember the lily white San Antonio you paint..but San Antonio has grown a lot and it is my favorite Texas city even now
Bannon totally down playing Durham Report, "joke from the start".

On this episode we speak with Marcia Applegate, one of my good friends and fellow members at Immanuel Church. We hear Marcia's story of growing up in an Orthodox Judaism household and what lead her to hearing Christ's voice and ultimately turning her heart to Him. Marcia describes her family's reaction to her testimony and how she chose Jesus over anyone else. We then talk about what is means being a Messianic Jew and then we dive into some controversial topics that are highly debated regarding Judaism in today's current time.
Thank you for tuning in! Together through Christ we have endless potential.

I have been really changing up my diet lately, I honestly look like a different person. I watched this video yesterday from Dr. Ken Berry asking if the American Heart Association is bought off. Its a good watch. He is doing an interview, and the subject comes up that our school lunch programs are so bad for the kids. Maybe, as taxpayers, this is something we could take on as patriots?

Gardening: saw a week or two ago about putting copper rods into soil to help grow vegetables in a random comment on a post. Does anyone know what size and where to buy and how far to put into the soil? I grow out of patio picker boxes. I've never tried this and wanted too. I just need more info.
The idea is that the copper puts out a weak charge that repels pests such as snails and slugs, maybe nematodes. As far as growth goes, I am not sure., the elemental copper that helps plants is found in composted manures, and if you add some sulfur, it helps absorb copper from the soil. If you want to experiment, you can use copper wire, a thick gauge , buried into or encircling the plant. I have never used it, though, but I've heard about copper wire being used for blight on tomatos. Container planting most important, good drainage soil and water frequently. I use a gro pro mix to add to my soil, good compost from my barn, and for greedy feeders , blood meal, crabshell meal, bone meal and fish emulsion or sea weed emulsion, mixed in with soil mixture, about 1/2 cup each. I imagine encircling the plants stems with pennies that are made from copper could work too, but in a short gardening season, you would still need sulfur to leach it out of the rod, the wire or coin, as I dont think it would leach enough in a 3 month growing season to amount to much.
Wow okay thank you! That was helpful
your welcome!
Sigh.
Take a deep breath folks. Just take a deep breath. Step away if you need to. Give it 72 hours.
The Awakening will still be Great by the time you get back.
I keep hearing this but fail to see the problem. What are you guys taking a deep breath for?
Thus speaketh the unflappable Bursting Bubble....
Meh, just a random comment. Maybe there's no problem! I'll wait and see...
Tell me, what is the apparent problem that might exist? Are you referring to "Durham did not indict anyone?" or something else?
I don't think there is any problem.
This comment was self-directed to some extent, but I thought also just a good general comment applicable to numerous situations experienced by pedes on the board.
The comment is/was prompted by my observing the deluge of Durham posts, but as stated above, I think it's reasonable as a general recommendation.
I don't think there is any problem. I regret starting the comment out with "sigh".
Question: "I keep hearing this but fail to see the problem" What do you keep hearing? From where?
Do you mean you keep hearing this from me, and you think such comments are unnecessary or unhelpful? If so, you may be right.
You and a couple other anons. My questions are not judgemental but rather I am trying to take a pulse of the Anons.
The problem right now is that every day in America, there’s a child given hormone blockers, and parents taking them to Dr’s to schedule them for the mutilation of their genitals and their breasts. This is a huge concern. I recently seen the map of what they refer to gender, affirming care locations, but it’s really child mutilation locations. We have more here than anywhere in the world I think maybe the only place close to this is Canada, if not more.
It’s a little disconcerting, knowing all this, and then everybody says the white hats are in control. Lulz!
The fact is, we are at war. And right now, the children are suffering. The fact that they’re not dying because of kinetic explosions, many of these children’s deaths and mutilations are just under the radar. And for those who are still asleep, they’re actually applauding this type of mutilation of children. For clicks and giggles.
Aha. I see.
Re: Durham, so far, I don't see a very pronounced negative over-reaction on the board, which, to some extent, surprises me. Personally, I find the initial news that Durham has 'filed his report' to be relatively disappointing, but as per my admonition, Ima take 72 hours.
I see a lot of generally positive takes on the Durham report.
Anyone else feel like the Giuliani lawsuit timing is super suspicious? Same day as the Durham report. Seems fishy to me.
Hmm I haven't read about that!
Most of it is directed at Giuliani himself, but Reddit is salivating over the claim that Giuliani and Trump sold pardons to people.
Today I wanted to go get vitamin IV hydration, which I do occasionally. The website of a new practice I wanted to try informed me that I must NOT arrive dehydrated 🤨 then asked me for my pronouns (to which I replied "stop this nonsense.") and wanted to know my sex assigned at birth. After I refused to enter my PHI on the app, (and those apps ask all kinds of permissions) the clinic called to let me know I would have to fill out my paper work on the app, bc they are "green" and "paperless." I refused, so we agreed I would not be a good fit for her practice. I then took my money and moved my feet down the road to a practice who understands patient confidentiality and is not stupid with the pronoun/gender nonsense.
GO WOKE, GO BROKE
I did the same thing when my hospital affiliated endocrinologist attempted to move everything to apps when "COVID" hit. See ya!
They sure had all that technology lined up quickly. 🤔
Idiots.
Good job. I hate it when professionals ignore stuff that they know to be BS.
I'm seeing these apps more and more with massage therapists and things like that. I am just not going to put info into an app that needs permissions from my phone so complete the form.
This practice, run by a new NP, also does hormone replacement therapy and I kind of wonder if her clientele is not just menopausal ladies seeking relief, but more nefarious. She is affiliated with the woke bookstore here in town. The obese green haired book store owner hosted tranny shows until the community put a stop to it. Go woke, go broke.
Are you suggesting everyone is passed out kek

Maybe we passed the international date line.
what ridiculousness
Hahahhaha
Maybe for once in 12 months, BB has something to do in the afternoon. (It's been May 16 here for 15 hours)
Hey, I commiserate, but give the Bubble a break.

1,000,000% yes....except the person should have switched a year ago. Rates have already doubled, if not gone even higher.
Either way; Do not pass go, do not go to the bathroom first, RIGHT NOW call up a reputable mortgage broker & switch to a fixed rate.
Variable rate mortgages can and DO absolutely go UP....isn't that literally what sparked the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis?
I have a couple excellent mortgage brokers if you need some referrals.
Welcome, good luck to you or whoever needs it!
