A lot of restaurants do also now, it’s because they don’t want to pay the cc fee for you to use your debt/credit cards. So it’s either you pay the fee if you use your debt/cc or you pay cash and they don’t charge that fee, so it looks kinda like they are giving you a discount. I use cash if I’m by myself (without hubby) when out with friends and tip in cash, that way the waiters can decide whether to claim it on taxes or not. Have to say it is easier to use our debt card to pay for everything but I don’t want to go to the digital crap they are trying to push.
I have used almost exclusively cash since 2016 for my personal expenses. I even stopped using the car wash close by because they take cards only.
Its a harder thing to do for my petty cash type business expenses. I do try though when I can. But I cant carry around tons of cash to the jobsites and I have someone down at a builders supply at least once per day. When I go buy insulating foam sheets for a walkout basement as an example, the bill can be several hundred dollars and there is often not a supplier nearby where I have an account. So I use the company AMEX. Yesterday I had one of the girls go get a new SDS bit for the hammer drill and deck screws for a custom wall form and paid cash for that.
Btw OMG have you bought deck screws lately? I cant believe how friggin expensive they are. To build a deck these days your gonna have a 3 digit screw bill.
The vast majority of my purchases have been cash for many many years!! No one needs to keep track of anything I buy. If a business won't accept cash, they don't get my business!!!
Cutting it up is all fine and well, but I'd call and cancel the card completely. You never know how easy it is for a card number to get out and cause all kinds of problems, especially if you're not looking for transactions.
It is actually sad how few times people actually look at their bank statements anymore. And I am just as guilty as the next person on that fact.
Not to go off on a tangent regarding safety/security, but I TRY to follow much of what Micheal Bazzell speaks about on his Podcast. Be sure to at least download all of your check/savings/credit card statements and store them securely on an external drive. Make copies of your IDs, DLs, credit/debit cards and all other important items and store them there too. Additionally, have those files SECURELY stored and available to provide if needed from your phone or tablet if needed. If God forbid, your home burns or something else happens, you never know when/if you will need those items and how accessible they are.
Anyway, I'm all in on all cash. I've also been hording coins. I actually found a 1925 penny the other day.. And it was in surprisingly good condition.
This isn't going to stop it when the major banks are already on board. They'll just stop issuing cash when the government recommends it. Exactly what happened in Nigeria. They're dealing with this right now. No, the solution is beyond this. People must see it, experience it before we can fix it.
I believe that if the cash is hoarded, the government will first stop printing it and tell stores use the digital fiat. If they do not, they are fined. Then the govenment will make fiat worthless even more by saying the only way u can claim ur money is a bank deposit. The "problem" would weed itself out naturally after that
Yes, local is the key that many forget. Near me is a local fast-food chain, and I give it my business. Near that is a local gas station chain that I also give my business. And right near that is a local grocery store chain. They may be chains, but they're founded and run right in my state!
Good read. Love this comparison with the Creepy Van and First Location analogy, is very accurate. Why wait to we get to the second location to put up a fight were the danger is much greater?
CBDC isn't worth your attention. Do you honestly think that the White Hats that are in control now will let this happen? Things have been mostly digital for a LONG time now. There is no going back. How are you going to pay your bills? Shop online? Get paid? Use cash for everything? I don't think so. There is a plan. I'm just going to let it play out. If the Global Elite have the power to push this on us then we aren't actually in control and have already lost.
I believe the fear of it is why it is being continuously spoken about. The more it's presented and explained how bad of an idea it is, the more people will reject it. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to roll it out and it may even be rolled out for a while, but it will fizzle out quickly.
My wife and I are doing just that. I am training myself to grab a handful of change before leaving the house. Comes in handy.
It's also amazing how much money you spend. When you constantly have to fill up your wallet every time you leave the house, you realize.
NGL I love the tap, but if we have to revert to copper, silver and gold coins I'm all in.
Catherine Austin Fitts said this would hurt the cabal.
And some stores give you a discount for cash.

I cut up my debit card 6 months ago which forces me to use cash or check only

They are trying to make this very difficult in the Uk.
Lots of high street banks have closed, atm's removed etc. The banks that are left need a letter from your Mum if you're over 80 etc. etc.
I pay cash where I can, it's not always straightforward :(

Can anyone explain to me how using the cash version of the infinitely inflatable Treasury note is any better than the digital blips?
If anything hoarding your cash would be more appropriate than using it and spending it.
Of course the best thing is to convert that treasury note into non-inflationary currency like Bitcoin, gold and silver

it's not
If you don't convert your currency and you give the businesses reason not to convert, then the CBDC has a harder time taking hold.
The M2 money supply is decreasing by about $50,000 per second. https://usdebtclock.org
Most of my money is tips. Wallet bursting. Done
Husband and I made a commitment today to buy locally with cash.

Great idea. Will do.

Sound strategy!

It would not be the first time when governments decide to simply outlaw certain types of payment-forms in the name of national security.
I also suspect it will actually get implemented then fail almost immediately. I guess time will tell.
