I read the article , No vacancies, which I already knew .. I have a house in San Diego, so I’m not looking to move into a tiny community , but for 650 a month, long term is less ? with electricity and water hook ups and WiFi on the ocean , you can park your RV or get some little home , Oregon is beautiful , of course Portland , Salem and some other towns are destroyed , but there are still beautiful areas, im not going to Oregon or Washington, If I get out of San Diego I’m heading for freedom, but still parked at oceanfront for 650 a month is major cheap.
I for one wouldn't hate the idea of cleaning a 600 sq ft place. But then you would have to live in a community where people sit in their tiny space with masks on. Inside. That might be a deal breaker.
I saw that lol ,, that was the community room , wth ,, you would think a place like that would be against masks , , beautiful living free and all , but it is Oregon lol we need to make our own communities, that would be awesomn , been looking at houses in Arkansas, wow if I sold my house in San Diego I could get a big beautiful place on a river . Looked at one tonight for 500 k unbelievable, 5 bedrooms basement that is a granny flat kitchen etc , spectacular views wth it was nice for 500 couldn’t believe it ,,I could pay cash it was near Missouri border I think or Missouri River ? Don’t know the area , near Ozarks ? anyway it was nice ,
You can park your RV right along the Columbia River for free in Portland for as long as you'd like. Who needs wifi? No property taxes or rent and you can just throw your trash out to the river. I saw it with my own eyes and left that place because of it.
I was joking about all the homeless RVs that just come along and park along the streets in Portland and along the Columbia River for free and the government doesn't do shit about it.
Omg , I’d love to travel in an rv , I bought one , only been to Oregon once , Portland 28 years ago , would love to see it before it’s completely destroyed, fkn pigs throwing trash in a river . So sad ,, glad u got to see Oregon , I mostly saw it through videos ,, beautiful place !
For anyone who has looked at the idea of living in an RV, a trailer park in a nice area like this for only $650 a month with full hookups is dirt cheap. I can imagine these are going to become very popular as the economy continues to bite.
Most states and localities prohibit you from living full time in an RV on your own property, so putting it in an area that has been licensed for it is the only option.
Have you seen the number of Van Life videos on Youtube? This would be perfect as a home base. Huge business opportunity.
"Most states and localities prohibit you from living full time in an RV on your own property..."
It's almost like we don't really OWN property, isn't it? Still pay the g'ment yearly or lose it. Still can't live on it how we chose.
It's almost like we don't really OWN property
I thought that was pretty much an accepted truth at this point...
When I bought my place 35+ years ago, the annual property tax was less than a month's worth of groceries, back then. The town merged with a public school in a richer town, before that it was school choice if you were willing to drive your kid to another town. With that merger, which I voted against btw, the property tax quadrupled. The majority of votes were so they could be on the school board, but once their kids aged out, they did not care and the rest of us were left with this damn high bill every year. Now the talk is closing that school because there are no kids from this area to keep it open. I guess my money goes to maintaining the dirt roads and the snow plowing now. I cut trees down to have a view, put on a new roof, and they were raised again. I want to put up a small camper on a space I have down away from the house, a nice flat site surrounded by woods, but you can be sure it will be off the road and not seen, to avoid the Listers.
They drove into our property apparently, looking for I don't know what, and found an old trailer in the trees to charge us for... We've adjusted the cameras.
So...
buy land.. section it off.. put up utility hookups in each section.. profit?
If you can A) find a jurisdiction that will allow it, B) get it past all the zoning laws, and C) provide whatever environmental impact studies and reports are necessary, then yes. Not as easy as you would think though. Many areas simply will not allow trailer parks and require a minimum home size of 1200 sq. ft.
It can be done obviously, but not as simple as you would think.
I'll bet that a member of the council has to have a family member on the board of whatever venture you're starting, getting paid but not doing anything.
There is a campground up the road from me, and the guy did exactly that, he does have some seasonal people, but his base are some pretty interesting permanent non residents. It dwindles in the deep of winter, I am not sure where they go, but he has an assortment of van campers, tiny house people who hauled their cabins there, but left them on the flat bed. I keep my eye on it, only because of, well, you know, transients can be honest people who need some stability to get on, or, they could be druggies who have burnt all their bridges. The zoning in Vermont goes from town to town, it is not state regulated. He does share his Starlink with the farm across the road, and he hired all local men to do the site work and logging to clear it. Not sure how he operates though, seems since it started he is spending more than he is taking in. He is not from here.
The government won't let you do it, but you can if someone pays them to license it...... Tyranny!!!
Yeah, that's the thing about this "tiny-home" movement. It's not fucking new. You are exactly right, it's a trailer park. Drive around any rural area or suburbs. They have been everywhere for decades and decades.
I looked at the article. It looked so comfy sitting inside your house wearing a mask.
I looked at the article, those masktards weren't in their house, they were in the common room. Still pathetic and dystopian, though.
You beat me to my comment! LOL.
In flyover country these are known as tornado bait.
Let the bottle kids loose!
Make trailer parks great again? Bunch of people who get fooled by products that do a slight name or product description change.
Saw a lot of this in the FL Panhandle where Michael had destroyed second homes. Everyone gets a concrete pad with water, sewer, and electric. Park your trailer and build yourself a screened patio for outdoor life. Easy to move on when you want to. When the next hurricane blows your trailer away, you're out very little and can start over easily.
FL has had decades of practice with this - RVs are huge among the snowbird set.
oooooh fancy
Lmao dumbasses at home with masks hahahahah
Why are they idiots? This looks pretty smart.
A person could nail a lot of boards for $650 a month!
