That scenario leaves leftists in their present state of opposition to all things good and true, and leaves lots of middle of the roaders subject to wavering to the left at the next opportunity. The Great Awakening is going to require a substantial number of leftists to Awaken so that when the next election occurs, there won't be enough like minded people willing to help cheat.

I just hope DeSantis makes it to the primaries because I have a feeling lots of Americans will be watching the televised debates on real issues and many will hear info they never knew existed. This is why I think the WHs are having RD run and POTUS has been pumping up the friction between them. FNM is portraying DeSantis as a horrid tyrant (second only to the very, very bad orange man) and Fox has put DeSantis up on a pedestal so I think both left and right (and independents) will be avidly watching the televised GOP primary debates.
The other positive this DeSantis run provides is to draw out all the avid RINOs and uniparty elite who are dropping big bucks into the RD election coffers. While I'm sure there are some well-meaning but unaware individuals contributing to RD thinking he's a solid contender, much of the big money pouring in will likely, IMO, be coming from the DS and their unwitting minions (whether or not RD is an actual RINO or, as you theorize, part of the show to draw out the evil).
Ideally... keep DeSantis in the running through the GOP primaries. Trump will dominate, by far, but RD will be the next strongest contender. Then have RD drop out (whether or not the GOP chooses to put him or Trump on the ticket). Recent Trump rally sizes and enthusiasm indicate America will write Trump in if we need to.

I suspect they know who’s onside or not already. DeSantis feels like a desperation move, they pulled out a key asset to provide a palatable MAGA alternative to Trump for when they were to presumably arrest him and knock him out of the race.
