As a walk-in, there was one stylist and nobody getting serviced. She asked for my phone number (I had been there before) and to verify the name, she verified the last 4 of my SSN. WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO THEY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT I DO OR BUY OR SEE?!?! Shit's getting creepy as fuck. SMMFH...
I wonder how they got their hands on your SSN. Is this a national chain? I usually get my hair cut at Supercuts and if they have my SSN I'll be pissed.

I walked out of a hair salon / barbershop during COVID when they gave me the OR-state mandated query of my data (phone # and other things, I forget exactly what). Just WAY too intrusive for a damn haircut. The state's excuse, of course, was COVID tracking . . . was I, or had I ever been, near someone who MIGHT have had COVID. . . .
My dentist's office asked for my ssn.

I learned to cut my own hair using clippers. I was shocked how easy it is and how when I was done I could not believe that it looked as good as going to the barber. That was 2 years ago. You used to be able to walk into any barber prior to 2020 and get a cut, now they want all your demographic info to make an appt. Fuck them!

That's crazy that they'd ask you for your last 4 of your SS#. There is no legitimate reason that I can think of.

This started way back when hospitals were using SS# for patient medical records. Where I worked 10,000 employees were hacked.
So when I moved and had my med records sent to my new doctors/hospitals they all had my SS number. Imagine the thousands of people that have access to my number.
Uhaul is now taking headshots for a rental.
Home Depot uses facial recognition cameras both in store & outside. A fren works night shift stocking there and all of the employees had to have facial scans so the new cameras in the parking lot could identify them as such.

Wanna know what spurred this event? The city was donated over two dozen new mobile security camera units last Fall. They plopped them all over the city and local news claims "they deter holiday shoplifting". That's literally what the locals were told on TV & radio...
Anyhow, we're talking a city with a population of about 20,000 in red fly over America. Not a big city at all, it's spread out thinly. And to my knowledge, there is not a significantly high percentage of "holiday shoplifting" in this area compared to any other place I've lived.
