At least we can build more batteries AT MARKET RATE, not child labor rate- that will wake up a few woketards in their useless without electricity cars...

Disappointed that Sarah is on board with this all electric “coercion” of the people. America runs on coal and oil…any Hog Pedes out there care to enlighten me???

Sarah's job is to bring jobs to Arkansas for her people and to build the state economy. Not to argue whether electric cars are viable or not. Lithium mines are jobs for people and lithium batteries are used for a lot more than just electric cars.

The point shows lack of concern for facts. Maybe they can mine for oil ore too.

No you are just a pedantic bitch. Lithium mine and a lithium well refer to the same process.

SOMEONES FEELINGS HURT? NEED SOME TENDIES? mining is for solids, drilling is for fluids. there is a difference. now go grow up.

No not even a little. Don't sweat the small stuff bro. No reason to unless you are trolling...

How is lithium mined? Today, humans pump brine to the surface, evaporate the water, add a slurry of hydrated lime to keep out unwanted metals, and extract the lithium that's left behind.

Mining using a hydraulic process. Wow! What do you call gold miners that use monitors? It is still mining...

Theyre using oil and gas to find it.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– KnockKnockItsJinx 1 point 1 year ago +1 / -0

Correct. We need lithium batteries for lots of things, not everything can have an electric cord attached.
And in reality their are precious and rare metal mining locations in our country that would end dependency on foreign sources. BUT..and it's a big one... one site in the southwest that was a rare mineral mine site is a hideous poisonous site from the bowels of hell that was shut down and not cleaned up or something. Very great environmental caution is necessary. Its not just tree-hugger paranoia.

Have you seen the price of lithium-ion batteries for power tools? Getting so high I may need to look for a gas powered drill.

HEHEHEHEHE...😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁😁😀😀😀

I REALLY feel what you are going through BUT I have ALL ELECTRIC HAND TOOLS that I can use, RIGID, if one must know, and they are a thang of beauty when I pull them out of their "ORIGINAL CARRY CASES".....

I say to myself: "Self, do you need anything that is NOT corded?" and the answer as always: "NOPE"!!!!

Really boataholic, I know exactly where you are coming from!!! If you need power tools with a chord try a pawn shop...the chord might be a lil "messed up" but that can be fixed and a lot of the stuff just needs some TLC!!!!!

Good Luck!!!

The problem with electric is that they are forcing it to market. As long as we stop them for making it law.

I could be wrong but I think lithium is in a lot of batteries not just EV. Also anything that improves bringing any kind of energy job here is a win

Lithium is a versatile element with various applications across different industries. Here are some of the top uses of lithium:

Batteries: One of the most well-known and widespread uses of lithium is in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are commonly used in electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, cameras, and electric vehicles due to their high energy density and long lifespan.

Electric Vehicles: The growth of the electric vehicle market has increased the demand for lithium-ion batteries. Lithium batteries power electric cars, providing an efficient and lightweight energy storage solution.

Medical Treatment: Lithium compounds, particularly lithium carbonate, are used as mood-stabilizing medications in the treatment of bipolar disorder. Lithium helps regulate mood and reduce the risk of manic and depressive episodes.

Ceramics and Glass Production: Lithium compounds, like lithium oxide and lithium carbonate, are used in the production of ceramics and glass. They can enhance the properties of these materials, such as increasing their melting points and reducing thermal expansion.

Greases and Lubricants: Lithium is used in the production of lithium-based greases and lubricants. These have high resistance to temperature and water, making them suitable for various industrial applications.

Aerospace Industry: Lithium is used in the aerospace industry for its lightweight properties. It is used in the production of lightweight alloys that are crucial for aerospace components, such as aircraft components and satellite parts.

Rechargeable Medical Devices: Lithium batteries are also used in various medical devices, including pacemakers and other implantable medical devices. The long life and stability of lithium batteries make them suitable for these applications.

Aluminum Production: Lithium compounds are used in the aluminum production process to improve the quality of aluminum and reduce energy consumption during production.

Nuclear Reactors: Lithium-6 is used as a neutron absorber in some types of nuclear reactors. It plays a role in controlling nuclear reactions and ensuring the safety of the reactor.

Air Treatment: Lithium chloride is used in air conditioning systems as a desiccant (moisture-absorbing agent) to improve the efficiency of the air treatment process.

so theres digging a great big toxic scar in the earth that can't be used for anything else afterwards..

.. and then theres pumping it out of the ground and extracting it from brine ..

which takes months or years to evaporate, has to dry out on surface, brings contamination to the surface, and could potentially accidentally contaminate the groundwater table. (editing to add that this is being done in desert salt flats with non potable water now... that its being done in arkansas is a little different and carries this risk)

i just read about some cool evaporation devices that speed it up and disperse the brine into the air. if it has lithium in it maybe we could point it the sky in portland or seattle or san francisco hmmmm /s (on this part).

id rate it as something that could be cleaner or safer or better with innovation.

I live off grid and my electricity comes from solar. Lithium are the bast batteries when it comes to depth of discharge. With car or marine type batteries, you can only discharge to 50% before having to recharge or you will permemnetly damage your batteries. This means, only half of your total storage capacity is usable. With Lithium, you can discharge all the way down without damaging your batteries. Lithium is 4 times the cost of car or marine batteries though. What would cost me a couple hundred in car batteries, costs me a couple grand in Lithium. A domestic Lithium mine means my batteries now cost less. The downside is that very few people like it when they start mining in your neighborhood

TX drilled oil, AR drilled Li. Midwest is where all the refugees from the tyrant states will flood to because of economic collapsed. Think about this.

I am predicting but you can see what is coming, right? If you are in the Midwest close by here, it's a very good place to be when shit hits.
