Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
John Wyndham’s 1953 Novel “The Kraken Wakes” - anyone read it?
It's 10pm on Saturday night and I'm disappointed that Sunday's chat isn't posted yet! 😞
I’ve been waiting as well… I’m going to have to re-post my final post from today’s general chat, so it will get eyes on it. 😂🤣
LOL!
Frequency
If this is what it does with salt, can you imagine what it does with our body. Frequency is everything. I’ve even heard that they’ve changed the frequency of music to a different tone, because it’s not as healing as the original one they were using for music. I don’t know how to explain it, but anyway.

I might finish Tucker - Putin interview by next month. It’s like watching paint dry. I believe that would be more exciting. Might try it with subtitles. This narrator has a monotone voice, ugh 😣
You can always skip the first 24 mins where Putin gives the history lesson. After that things get pretty interesting.
Thanks, weird I love history and it’s interesting. Need to listen when I’m not tired.
Damn, being single the past 5 years , I can not relate to any music! My sister jams and has so much drama. Me, I'm like..... nope!
My fren, try something totally out your comfort zone
independent rap
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ID3ko66HIts Tech n9ne ft Krizz Kaliko and CesCru - Unfair, you won't believe this is LIVE but it is. Radio rap does not sound like this and a decade later it is still fresh and on another level.
Korean pop
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=baaNwRAhHBo
Gidle - wife. one of the weirdest, qurkiest, and hilarious sounding kpop songs of all time. Super polarizing but very catchy and sounds like nothing out there, Gidle's leader Soyeon is a genius in her genre
Rock
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_r5sK1CvsY8
Coheed and Cambria- Pavilion
One of their most emotional and epic songs. Anyone who has lived a long life or chased a dream, could relate to these lyrics. It is a soaring rock anthem with ballad sensibilities and very unique amongst their backcatalog
Soundtrack
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_r5sK1CvsY8
Persona 4/golden soundtrack. Video games have come a long way in terms of their music. Even if you hate games, the Persona 4 soundtrack in its entirety is filled with so many different types of music and is overall as catchy as it is eclectic. A mix of great vocal and instrumental music that sounds unlike anything in movies or TV.

Cambria and coheed def yess. First one nope. I like the second one better one out of the 2. If I have to pick.
What genre of music do you usually like? Maybe something new to you would be helpful. I grew up in the 70s and that’s my favorite genre. I listen to almost every genre except rap & classical. I gravitate towards singer songwriters more than anything. 70s music has a lot of that. New singer songwriters are mostly in country (not on radio) and Americana which is more soulful music.
Interesting. 76 here. I like rap, and old music. Except blues and jazz.
I’m listening to more Americana genre than other genres. You won’t hear much of this on the radio. Other times I gravitate to classic rock and old R&B. In addition to my most regular listening, these mainstream country singer songwriters are usually in my constant rotation: Miranda Lambert, Eric Church & Chris Stapleton.
Ray Lamontange’s music reminds of James Taylor with more upbeat music. I consider it easy listening.
Anderson East music reminds of soulful early R&B. He’s very energetic, has full band and writes his music.
Tyler Childers has some of the best lyrics. His voice isn’t like anyone I’ve ever heard. Like very old country music. From Kentucky and you can hear about the hard living in his lyrics. (I listen to several artists from Kentucky and Texas. They seem to be the best storytellers.
Sturgill Simpson, it’s hard to describe each album has a different theme. His lyrics are very straightforward. More like very old country music.
Red Stray Clays, the lead singer’s reminds me of very early country like Hank William’s Sr.
Grace Potter also listed as Grace Potter and the nocturnals. Rock that’s soulful. She’s got one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and places the guitar like old rockers. The music with nocturnals is better.
Walker Hayes is country that’s like mild wrap. Not sure how to describe it. Very fun upbeat music with unusual lyrics. Album: 8 tracks Vol 1 Good Shit (the name). You might have heard him on the Applebees commercial, “fancy like applebees”
Nathaniel Rateliff & the night sweats, very old school sound with full band.
Casey Donahew & Cody Johnson: both from Texas. I like people like this that haven’t sold out to the industry.
Let me know if you like any of these. It’s hard recommending music because we have different musical tastes.
I’m a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan!
They have just the right mix of heavy-metal and melodic music. The way they put it together, really makes my heart sing.
I would try City of Evil for a start! But my all-time favorite is Waking the Fallen - but it’s definitely an acquired taste. Some other songs are very prophetic, although they’re not a Christian band.
There are a lot of other reasons why this is my favorite band. Their drummer, and my husband died the same year 2009. The Following album “Nightmare” 2010 was very cathartic for me. Many of the songs dealt with grief. I had a mental break down when my husband of 30 - died unexpectedly, A7X and their music really helped me to heal. They have a new album out, and I’m really gonna have to go check it out.
I was fortunate enough to see Avenged Sevenfold - System of a Down - Disturbed - all at one concert in Arizona before my husband died. We went together as a family. Good times.
Neil piert3Sorry pepe can't do rush. My ex bil best the hell put those drums trying to be rush next to me for Years I tell You Years! I hate Rush! Niel peirt exceptional! Bil Not!
I , if I had, single dude frens, would def let them know. I'm female pepe. Probably why I don't like rush. Lol. And know of them only because of ex bil. Ty fren.
👏👏👏😂🤣😂🤣
After A Farewell to Kings, I really wasn’t pleased with the direction they took their band. I think I’ve seen them about eight or 10 times in concert. I grew up in Southern California so I went to a lot of concerts.

Trust the Plan 🙏
Ooo, I like that. I’m gonna use this as a Life Quote.
Thanks for sharing 😎
A beautiful 22 year old woman passed away last night. She was secretly doing drugs and died alone in a bathroom at home. Her name was Aaliyah and she was my future daughter in law’s sister. Could you take a second to pray for my family? Mariah and Julissa by name as they are sister and mother.
I am grief stricken and don’t even know what to say.
Certainly it was a WMD casualty and this happened in Racine county the drugs came from the city. I’m gutted.
Thank you all for the prayers. There is a fog of despair over my family.
I will pray for her and your family🙏
edit
My deepest condolences and prayers sent to you and your family. This a tragedy that plays out far too often.
I'm so sad for her loved ones. Their hearts must be so broken right now. I will be lifting y'all up in prayer.
First of all, God is so good to me! Thank you all for praying in agreement with me for my granddaughter. She is making some improvements and is definitely on the mend. Second, I just wanna tell y'all how much I appreciate y'all. This is my go-to social media. Y'all don't even realize you how each of you touch the hearts of many here on this board. Love y'all. Have a great weekend. ((Hugs))
Good to hear :)
Just watch their breathing rate, if it’s too high they might need oxygen. My daughter got a really strong virus and ended up in the hospital the last few days. She is almost over it but day 5 of the sickness was awful
Will do. Thanks for the heads up. So glad your daughter is almost over it! prayers going up.
Oh hallelujah! God is so faithful. I was thinking about her this morning, and was hoping she was feeling better today 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! Prayer is powerful!
Yes it is. God has answered so many prayers for me. I could never thank him enough.
So happy to hear the praise report. We are one big family here, much love 🙏
We are! Someday, we will all be joined together in person, and I will get to thank each and everyone of y'all individually!

The Superbowl -- why is it so expensive this year? Both stands and box. Do they only want a certain class of people (rich) to attend? Do those people in the stands vs a box? Are they going to spray the wealthy audience? What do you think is going to happen?
My coworker told me the Superbowl tickets are so expensive that a new young star player for the 49ers can’t even afford to get his parents in the box.
there were a pair of tickets on the news going for almost 50K.
What a waste of money.
I would never pay even if i could afford too.
edit: spelling
I'm looking forward to the swift thing ending tomorrow.
Some people are way too misdirected there.
Swifties are not. Football fans yeah.
I think it is the Death rattle of sports ball and manufactured pop culture. Both are dropping in popularity.
That clip I saw of the coach calling it the Death Star stadium. He said where the dreams come to die. 🤔
👏👏👏👏 Exactly!
Look at the date from the pic they used. When I did a search, some earthquakes happened on that day in 2016, I saw posted lastnight about earthquakes yesterday.
Also, I found interesting the address of the bobble head museum.
UGA X- Que. And it became available yesterday, plus the delta I saw posted along with superb owl stuff. Idk. Just 💭

Uga X given a rare and endearing Hall of Fame honor The late Georgia mascot Que, otherwise known as Uga X, has been given a Hall of Fame honor few school mascots can claim.

Apr 16, 2016; Athens, GA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs mascot Uga X on the field during the second half of Apr 16, 2016; Athens, GA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs mascot Uga X on the field during the second half of / Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports The most successful mascot in Georgia history passed away on January 23, and while his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of Bulldogs fans, Uga X has been given a most noteworthy honor.
On Friday, February 9, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum released a limited edition bobblehead honoring the life and legacy of the beloved Uga X.
From the Hall of Fame:
The first batch of the Uga X Bobbleheads recently arrived, and are available for sale in our Online Store at this link as well as at The Red Zone and The Clubhouse in Athens. The first batch is expected to sell out early Friday morning based on a presale opportunity for previous customers and the second batch is scheduled to arrive in May. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to only 2,023 to commemorate the year when Uga XI took over the mascot duties from Uga X at the Collaring Ceremony at the G-Day Game in April 2023. Standing on a University of Georgia logo base bearing the name Uga X on the front and Que on the back, the Uga X bobblehead has its tongue out in a playful fashion while wearing his custom-made jersey. The Bulldogs’ good luck charm, Uga X retired the winningest mascot in Georgia history. On the football field, the Bulldogs had a 91-18 record during his tenure, including back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships, two SEC titles and victories in the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Peach Bowls. Que passed Uga VI, who reigned from 1999 to 2008, as the university’s winningest bulldog.
"Bobbleheads are the ultimate way to honor and celebrate a person or mascot, and we think this bobblehead of Uga X is the perfect tribute to his amazing life,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar stated. “Uga X is loved throughout the state of Georgia and well beyond by Bulldogs fans, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members who had the privilege of watching and interacting with the beloved bulldog for many years!”
All 11 official live Georgia Bulldogs mascots who have taken the mantle as Uga have been part of a line of pure white English bulldogs owned by the Frank W. “Sonny” Seiler family in Savannah, Georgia, beginning with Uga I (aka Hood’s Ole Dan), who was born on December 2nd, 1955.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high-quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sales as well as for organizations and teams across the country.

🙏Local ACTION for the .WIN🙏
Potential changes so far...not for sure moves, still discussing
°Change title of new England region to Northeast
°Change title of Rockies to Mountains
°Move Nevada to western region
° move MO to south region due to like minded states
So we are discussing zooming out a little from the states and start with region's. Regardless of if we do regions or states first, these will be the regions we are going with, unless something changes
This is an initial draft of our concept. State-specific pages have been established; our focus now is refining the content and overall vision. We welcome your valuable insights and suggestions.
For further details, please visit: https://communities.win/c/PrayerGarden/p/16c1ukSEFO/what-is-prayer-garden-/c
Our endeavor is to unite anonymous contributors, local grassroots initiatives, the church, and the .win community.
State Leaders : These individuals assume responsibility for their respective state communities. They are required to reside within the state and participate in a local church.
State Leaders Church : This institution's primary purpose is to offer spiritual support and counseling to State Leaders, embodying a tangible representation of their state, without engaging in political roles.
State Anons : Tasked with scrutinizing individuals, events, or ministries to ensure alignment with stated intentions and genuine goodwill.
c/PrayerGarden: Functions as the central governing body, facilitating state interactions while respecting boundaries (further details forthcoming).
.win admin : Operates akin to a regulatory force(military)ensuring the alignment with overarching objectives and taking corrective measures against leaders deviating from the mission.
State Prayer Warrior : Responsible for crafting or discovering a weekly prayer and providing a platform for prayer requests within each state.
State News : Scours for and disseminates positive news and relevant state-related information.
Our aspiration is to establish a digital community structured with constitutional principles, distributing power to prevent concentration. This approach empowers individuals and ideas, fostering a sense of familial support. Many among us desire local involvement but seek guidance. Prayer Garden seeks to unify concepts and uplift individuals within the .win community.
As this project takes shape, we appreciate your patience and participation in our collective growth. Warm regards and God's blessings.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the states that have already joined our initiative in the days to come
White cream filled with chocolate on top, yum. Have you ever had Duck Donuts? They are great. There’s a local donut shop in my area that’s been in business over fifty years and it’s the best donuts I’ve ever had. Even with several owners it’s still great. They melt in your mouth. We got a dozen in December and it was $12.00. Only $1 a donut but that’s still crazy compared to what they cost a year ago.
https://www.duckdonuts.com/menu/fan-favorites/
That one’s really good. The favorite for most people is maple bacon, it’s ok but I prefer chocolate. There’s probably donut places like this all around. I think Duck is just in a few NC towns, started in Duck NC at the coast.
Cool story hate you lost the gun. North Carolina has a very unique coastline compared to the rest of the country. Look up Graveyard of The Atlantic. We have seven lighthouses. To my knowledge Hattaras is the only open to climb year round. Carteret County in the east is my favorite beach destination. I’ve been to other beaches and non are better than the other, it’s what you like and get used to. I hear Wilmington and Writesville beach are great, haven’t been since the early 80s. Rentals at the coast are outrageous! NC mountains has Blue Ridge Parkway. Anywhere from Boome on past Asheville is good. I don’t recommend Asheville, it’s very liberal. Been years since I went. Air B&B is probably a little cheaper than rentals. I don’t get to the mountains much and mainly go to the coadt. We have inner banks in addition to the outer banks. That area has a lot of history because the first settlers settled there as opposed to staying on the islands. Albemarle sound, Edenton & Bath are full of history. Wish I could recommend more. If I travel I usually go out of state. I highly recommend Charleston SC. Savanna Ga is like Charleston, never been.

Your welcome, argh 🏴☠️ research pirates we have pirate history especially Blackbeard.
Me too, but they don't like me. I am finding out, however, that a little self-discipline goes a long way,,,
I like chocolate glazed, you can have my jellies!🐸
I don't believe you. Fake news 😜🤣🤣😉
🫂❤️
Lol your comment made me chuckle so I tried my best to give some humor back 😂 lol
We Are Not To Live In Isolation Or Solitary Confinement. My Morning Bible Read Was Acts 2:42-47, The Fellowship of the Believers. Verse 46 Says, "Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,"
For those interested, the Savannah Bananas season started Thursday night.
What did I just see? 🤷♀️
Amen.
Sorry if it's been mentioned already but has anyone noticed Tucker Carlson's tie during the Putin interview?
Oh yeah huge and loud. Instantly I thought of a bumblebee. I was wondering if it has any significance. I hope ties aren’t going back to being huge. Not that I wear them, but I prefer the skinny tie.
To me, it looks black and yellow (gold), I'm not sure I understand the significance that has.
Ukrainian flag colors and allegedly the exact same tie was worn by Biden that day
I see black and bright yellow like a bumblebee.
https://www.thejournal.ie/putin-tells-west-that-russia-cannot-be-defeated-in-ukraine-6294757-Feb2024/
Ukrainian colors are more of a royal blue, not a dark blue
Agreed. And it’s yellow not gold.
Interesting.
Do you remember your home phone number and address? Remember other family or friends numbers. It amazes me I know my home, grandparents & cousins phone number & my address. Even it’s not these numbers I believe we were taught how to memorize. I doubt most people born after the 70s were taught memorization. Heck even writing off was a teaching moment. Taught me to not get caught again😝
I still remember my dad’s phone number and his address. He past seven years ago, but he lived in that house for 20 years.
It’s funny how we still remember things. Only working phone number I remember is my daughter’s, hubby and insurance company. Why the heck do I remember the insurance company? It blows my mind how many phone numbers was in our heads back then. I knew every friend’s number by heart.
I still remember my grandparents phone number. The house that we live in now it was theirs, it’s my moms, and it will be mine. They had that number for over 30 years 40 years. We finally got rid of the landline, and it broke my heart.
Of course. Memorizing something that you need to know as a child like your home address or phone number is just a good life skill. I don’t see why it would stop in the 70s 😂
Singing songs are a great way to memorize, so is reciting, I think the brain does it naturally, it's how musicians learn, too. I do not remember my childhood phone number, though. Repetition works fast. Can learn in less than a week all the words to songs, the Pledge, the Preamble, prayers, psalms. We would copy words from the board, learn vocabulary that way, we also practiced penmanship, but the writing of the words on a list, then using them in a sentence and correction for spelling was part of learning, and it all helped with memory. At 73 there are some things i forget, like a word I was reaching for in conversation. Singing numbers, letters in a spelling does work very fast though, I think it goes to show that music and our brains work together. A bird never forgets its songs, we were made that way.
Monday through Thursday my grandson goes to Pre-school. While waiting to put him on the bus, I go over that weeks Nursery Rhyme with him. When he gets it right, he will say it to his teacher and gets to pick a prize from the treasure box. I suppose learning nursery rhymes is a form of memorization. I live in a Red State so our schools aren't that 'bad' yet. Praise God!
What's the best way to deal with chronic dark circles under eyes?
I've had them for about 20 years, and now that I'm getting old, I'm starting to notice them more.
It may be too late for me.
I read frankensense powder made into a paste
Search on cell salts for dark circles under eyes - they will break down to the color (brown, blue, black) of the circles before recommending which cell salt would be most appropriate.
Low level food allergy could be contributing to it also.
Have your iron levels checked.
I heard this twice from unconnected females in one day, suddenly concerned about it after not hearing about it for years. some kind of pre-valentine's day eye makeup campaign.
you're all beautiful in your own ways ladies, don't let em mess with your head because you're less than perfect. nobody is perfect. 😎
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
First verse
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Matthew 9:13
Come on now, it's Friday and nothing. I am beyond disappointed. All the happenings lately and I am the only one here suffering discontent
The wait has been long and arduous, and I have not been awake near as long as the rest of y'all, so I tip my hat to those of you who have known and have been waiting steadfast for people like me to finally wake up and catch on. I have faith that justice will come and evil will be publicly vanquished. Faith (in Christ) and patience are two of the things I absolutely lacked when I first realized something was not right in the world and finally began to wake up, and that newfound faith and patience is tells me the wait will be worth it!
Oh, i am way ahead of you, Pede. I've been Disappointed since the GREAT (weekly chat) RESET of 2023. Get. On. My. Level.
Girl, I just got here. And yes, I’m getting impatient for the hammer to drop.
Feeling it here too.
Wondering when it's going to end. Financially ruined. Always trying to be positive but it's taking its toll, knowing choosing body autonomy limits our financial ability 🤬😪
Hang in there! God's got us. His timing is not always understood, but it is always perfect. Love ya!
Hang in there just a little longer. God is not going to let you down.
