1960s America vs 2020s America. Which do you prefer?

I lived in both. Prefer the 60's.
I was in high school in the 70's. There are some great videos out there of footage from high schools etc. It's amazing to watch and see all the differences. And, yes, take my phone, tv and all the technology back and lets go back.
Me, too! I graduated HS in 1975. I remember two sides of the 60's - the orderly "normal" side, and the uncomfortable, disorderly, druggies/hippies. I grew up in California and managed to stay conservative through it all because society, as a whole, reinforced conservative values.
Hippies! LOL. We were in polar opposite environments. 1979 Grad. Midwest, tiny town of 50 homes surrounded by farmers and farmland. Nearest 50K town was 35 minutes, largest "city" was 2 hours. It was very conservative. I was not exposed to much until college. I quickly became a hippie leftover. Life went from there to Texas and back.
Now, here we are fighting in the same battle together. Crazy shit.
My dad was from Tipton, Iowa, my mom from North Carolina. I think that helped the conservative side!
I know about where Tipton is, east of Cedar Rapids. NOTHING out there but corn fields. Of course that's about 80% of Iowa. I know quite a number of farmers out there.
Probably why my dad left! But I remember visiting as a child and I liked it. I live in a semi-rural area now, probably because of fond memories.
My brother from another mother 79 grad in SoDak Didn’t even have locks on the house. Keys in ignitions, guns in unlocked vehicles. Never a problem
LOL. Yep, welcome to my old world. We never had to worry about losing keys, they were always in the truck. Didn't lock the doors, otherwise neighbors couldn't get in if they needed something. Amazing how far things have fallen in my lifetime.
Yep, me too. I was in HS in the mid 60's. I think the early 60's were at bit better than the later.
Agreed!
CAN YOU SPOT THE DIFFERENCES??
Another to add to the list: the ladies in the '60s picture are wearing dresses. Nowadays in America, only trannies wear dresses.
And the girls wear saggy ass sweat pants
Yeah at least here in Canada our sky still looks good.
I noticed a con-trail on the picture on the left. That's what they're supposed to look like versus the ones on the right.
I think the left picture (1960's) is closer to our very soon future. One more year of this nonsense and then we start the transformation.
I pray you’re right! Traditional values returning would take our society to a better level. Putting God first would elevate everyone, no matter what race or religious preference.
Yesterday I noticed the sky was like the one on the left, and I couldn't remember the last time I saw it like that. It was beautiful.
Same here strangely, I was on break at work and looked up and saw a jet liner getting close to max altitude and the trail behind it was disappearing after one second. I wonder what the difference is, or at least what (their) explanation is. I've seen people here try to explain it away. How would one ever know?
I lived in both. Preferred the 60s and grieved that my kids only had my stories. Some days I can't believe how much things have changed.
Imho, the biggest disservice perpetrated on American citizens is Corn Syrup. It’s almost identical to natural sugar (water molecule difference) but it’s far different
If you make homemade ice cream, it’s delicious. But after a serving your body will tell you 2 facts 1). Delicious 2). Eat more, and you will vomit and be miserable
Like “Real” Coke, 1 bottle is wonderful. More and you will be sick and miserable. You are sated. You won’t want more
Not true with corn syrup. You can drink 4-12 Cokes and never feel sated. A gallon of ice cream and still want more. That’s thousands of calories without feeling sated. Now we are obese and diabetic
Not the same America.
I'm sure those older than me will agree that their timeline was the best. But as an 80s baby ....nothing beats growing up before the more obvious garbage became the norm. When phones where screwed into walls people were free.
After living in Japan for two years and getting married, we moved to Arizona and lived there for 10 years. We would fly to Japan once a year and every time we came back and saw so many obese people, it was total reverse culture shock and practically a mini-trauma every time and it depressed us. We'd joke about wanting to get back on the next flight back to Japan. I am overweight myself, considered fat in Japan yet thin in America. What killed us is that it seems that nobody seemed to care that they were so overweight.
I think it goes beyond poor diet though. Vaccines play a part in metabolism, just as they play a part in leukemia and other ailments. And I wouldn't doubt it if those chemtrails in the sky have an effect on metabolism too.
To be fair, Japan has slowly been getting fatter since I first moved here 24 years ago, right out of college. It's nowhere as bad as America, but it is still concerning. I watched Tucker's video on Ozempic and that was rather scary. I haven't been to America in nearly 8 years and I'm apprehensive to ever go and visit. Not that I can afford to do so anyway.
There is the fact that I'm not scared of the Russians now like in the 60s. And I have more money now. I never once got an allowance. My parents never bought me a single bicycle or a car.
But I'd like to go back to about 1959 knowing everything I know now. Plus have some stock market results and sports results from the following decades, for friendly betting of course. :) I'd have beat the crap out of a few bullies and found out some way to get back at bully teachers I had as far back as 1959.
60's fer sure.
Now compare this with 2024 in the USA. Notice how healthy and NOT fat the people are. https://rumble.com/v4dgfoe-the-russia-trip-part-1.html
One reason they were skinner is because everyone smoked. This gets looked over quite often. One reason people don’t want to quit is because they think they will gain weight.
Yeah, that's Tucker showing Russia's non-integrated all white Russia. Not the U.S.A.
If we go back to the 60's can I be a kid again?
If it were up to me, I'd say Yes! I'd love to go back (with my current knowledge) and fix all the things I didn't know how to fix, and enjoy the things I didn't fully appreciate back then and re-experience the love and life with my family and friends as they were back then.
As my father and many people like him said, "If I could go back in time and know then what I know now, it would be a lot different." But there are a lot of things I wouldn't change. However, I would have went down the road less traveled that I am on now.
