I don't understand why the OP has "WHY?" at the end of their post because it's all clearly explained why in the article they linked. Did they not even read the article before posting it here?
This article is about one county in Ohio that is expecting a ton of tourists coming in to see the eclipse because they will have a good view of it there. It's a small, two lane county that isn't set up to host what they think might be thousands of people coming in.
So they advise residents to stock up on food and gas now because the town is going to be packed during the eclipse and there will be long lines to get whatever it is you need.
And cell service might be wonky because all the towers will be overwhelmed because of the the tourists.
That's it. They're not predicting the end of the world or any sort of doomsday stuff. There's nothing fishy to it. It's not bad news. No one is trying to maximize carnage. There's no need to panic if you're away from home during the eclipse, because this has nothing at all to do with you unless you're heading to Lorain County, Ohio. We're not going to be thrown back into cave times where we'll have to suck nutrients from a stalk of wheat. It's not fear porn, they're not going to drop the grid and cut electricity off for a few weeks. I'm happy to say that unless you'll be in Lorain County, Ohio during the eclipse, none of this has anything at all to do with you, so you don't need to worry about it.
