Is it just me, or are the marines the only branch which is not suffering from this military trans-plosion that's been going on?

I left the Corps willingly in 2010 because I could see the direction it was all trending. I am not proud of what our military has become and the Marines are not an exception

The US Marine Corp is an amazing machine. You put a perfectly good human being in and what comes out is a crayon chewing monster that will kick your ass simply because they're bored. I'd highly suggest that you don't screw around with them after the Marine Corp is done with them.

The Marines are not a branch of the military. They are a division of the department of the Navy
They are both... a division of the Navy AND a military branch unto itself.
Just like the SOCOM elevation to cabinet level. SOCOM is many branches working as a units

It has never been anything else. Set up by the Navy and the Contintinental Congress. Although a division of the Navy, the USMC is a distinct entity, has its own budget, and holds a special relationship with the President.
It can get muddled.
Airforce was born of the US Army. Space Force born of the Airforce.
Coast Guard isn't military at all. They're D.O.T. (even though they get teary-eyed having to admit it), but their rank and recognition is identical to the Navy.

Sadly, boot camps in the US military branches have been weakened considerably to accommodate fatties, females, er, persons with vaginas, trannies, illegals, etc.. Participation trophies aren't far off if the recruits fail. If you have any info on the Marines not doing this with their bootcamps, it would be welcome.

The Marines do things a bit differently in the Pentagon I have been told. They are small in number and tend to fight an issue out behind closed doors without a lot of rank. Then they come out in lockstep.

I find it Very ODD, that soo many People think the Marines are a Standalone Branch of the U.S. Military....
They are nothing more than the PROUDEST Members of the U.S. Navy, technically they are Sailors that are trained to fight on Land also....
So, any Recruiting problems the Navy is having, be default, so is the Marine Corps....
