Depending on the political climate, you can recover from a disastrous debate. Al Gore knows all about it as he recovered from a disastrous first two debates vs George W. Bush to almost win the election.
For others, a disastrous debate is only an excuse. For example Richard Nixon had one, but the primary reason why he lost in 1960 is because he decided to visit all 50 states before the general election. This put him in a bind where he had to visit Alaska on the final weekend instead of focusing on the swing states including Illinois. Then there is the case of Walter Mondale where the only thing everybody remembers from that set of debates is Ronald Reagan's pledge to not exploit his opponent's youth and inexperience for political purposes. In reality, Mondale lost that race the moment he told the country, during his party's convention, that he was going to raise taxes.
As for last night? Last night wasn't a disaster. Last night was a full on knockout punch that took place right after the opening bell, and it was Jake Tapper that delivered that punch.
They're clearly all playing a role... if Biden stays in, it's self-inflicted destruction. We heard there will be "no deals". So, perhaps there won't be any plea deals, but rather they are all doing this to avoid some catastrophic series of embarrassments?

It seems to me the system was so corrupt and rotten that if everyone was exposed, there would be nothing left of American history. I mean, they found skeletons buried in Ben Franklin’s basement. Who knows how far back this shit goes. Obviously I’m inclined to rationalize some reasonable explanation for that, but look, who knows? What if Trump got in there and found out how bad it really was? What if EVERY public American figure from the past 75 years was forced to rape a child on camera? What is left of American culture at that point? What if the past, like, ten Presidents raped children? How would you expose that without completely destroying America’s reputation and standing in the world? Like Q said, they could only expose 40% of the truth and they had to cut deals for the rest. For one thing, every single criminal currently in jail would have to be let out and given a new trial if it came out that every single judge in America is blackmailed, and has been for the past 75 years. And every law would be invalid if voting has been rigged for 100 years or more. How could you unravel all of this without destroying the fabric of America?
I know what people say. “Just expose it all and let the chips fall where they may.” But I don’t think it’s that simple.
So I think people have been offered plea deals in exchange for testimony. I think most criminals are being executed but they are being allowed to preserve their legacy if they testify. I think both No Name and Bush Sr. took that deal. I think W took that deal. I think Biden took that deal. I think all these actors who suddenly retired or “died” took that deal. I even think Obama took that deal. I think some may have resisted and refused and so they are going to be publicly destroyed, but for new crimes, not crimes that would unravel all of America. I suspect someone like Alec Baldwin might be in that position, where he would take the fall for shooting this camerawoman. And if Obama DIDN’T take the deal, then I think he might go down for the murder of this chef on his property.
There will be worse debates; weirder interviews, and yet Biden will get installed. The democrats will steal election, most popular president with over 100m votes.

DJT fights for ordinary folks-has his entire life, DJT tells the truth and knows right from wrong, and gives it to the American people straight. He speaks of Biden when he says "lies through his teeth for his own benefit". He is also right when he says "so much is at stake in November" we need to vote Donald John Trump for president!!
