The original sentencing date was four days before the RNC convention. There was a worry that the RINOS would use the sentencing as an excuse to knock Trump out and get someone else in. Hence, there was a movement to push up the RNC convention date.
Now with this delay, the sentencing must be after the RNC convention, so the RINOs have no feasible way to get someone else on the ballot.

What I've read is that Trump's legal team.asked for a new trial because some of the evidence used against him.came from actions taken that were covered.under immunity. Prosecution agreed to delay to review that and Merchan pushed sentencing back to at least mid.September to allow time to review all.motions.
My.personal.opinion: Bragg and Merchan know their case is shot and will be reversed on appeal. They are trying this save face and delay all that from happening. This allows MSM to keep the "convicted felon" narrative going a little longer. Merchan will toss case because some evidence was inadmissible and Bragg will not prosecute.
Time to consider what exactly? Since this is an obviously Hail Mary for this sham of a prosecution that isn't going to stand up you may as well go full speed ahead on the deception before it falls apart.
Sentence Trump on July 11, immediately take him into custody, and force HIS lawyers to seek relief for it. You might get lucky and it keeps him tied up there for a few days until his lawyers can get a Court to stay the sentence pending considering the SC ruling. You might get extra lucky and your RINOS can try some shenanigans to fuck him at the convention and try and replace him.
Even if the above fail you still get your headlines and you get your video of him being taken to jail. Sure, you make him even more popular, but that's why this was always a stupid game, at least play it through.
