Neither are 95% of those who call themselves African American. Now Elon Musk is African American, So is Charlize Theron. In America, black skin means your African American…which is just ignorance.
To the left, the color of your skin matters.
Well said!
To be clear, most black people I know don't refer to themselves as "African American"
That's some white leftist racist ideology passed off as pro black
Remember a while back, a reporter here referring to some French blacks as African Americans?
She is actually more Irish than black.
Pocahontas has more American Native blood than she has African.
Of course, since Kamala is a bit less than 50% black. Most Jamaicans are black. She has one line of white.
Kaghmalagh McHarris
Easy their buddy.
Phil Lynott & Paul McGrath are the only black Irish.
Have you ever seen or met an Irish woman?
I married one. 😁😁
Nope. She's just about as black as Obama. Jamaicans are black. But she does have one white line way back, just close enough to show up in a DNA test. So she's definitely not more Irish than black.
She has two Irish lines. One was a plantation owner and slave owner. Jamaica was an English colony until 1962. When I researched it a while back, she was a little more Irish than black. Much of her color is from her India heritage mother.
I only see one Irish line, Finegan. Kamala's paternal grandmother was a Finegan.
Strangely, Biden's maternal grandmother was a Finnegan.
Both were Irish. Perhaps even related. They should both join Ancestry. :)
Brown was Irish too.
Well, Jamaicans are black. Not from Africa for many generations, but Africans were brought to the Caribbean (including Jamaica) on slave ships from Africa. So it seems like Kamala’s dad is black, though not directly African-American, he is likely by decent. But who cares anyway - she’s an idiot.
Jamaicans aren’t black. Meaning. The term black is reserved for American descendants of slaves. Americans will flat out say people from the Caribbean including Jamaican aren’t black it’s a weird thing. Jamaica was also a pirate hideout and had many indentured and slave peoples. Chinese. East Indian. Native islanders. Argentinian. Cuban. Irish. African. Syrian. Jewish. On the flag the national motto is of ‘many one people’.
“The term black is reserved for American descendants of slaves.” …Is your opinion, that’s not colloquial fact. It depends on the black person you ask. It is pretty well known that Jamaica is part of North America & some of their black population are descendants of slaves. Some of them identify as black and some don’t; & who cares anyway if Kamala & her Jamaican dad think they’re black or not. It’s irrelevant. Many Jamaicans are and ID as black.
The Caribbean more allies with Latin America. Which is why they do sports and other events together like the Caribbean and Latin American games held in el Salvador recently. I have zero issue with your statement. It’s correct. I’m just saying the coming narrative is going to be that she isn’t ADOS. ADOS and FBA want to distinguish from other DOS. I get it but either way, none of this makes our lives better or worse. Just watching the show.
That was silly of those people. Black people are black no matter where they live or where their ancestors came from. Kamala is somewhere under 50% black, depending on how much white mixed in.
I’m just saying how it is. Many black Americans don’t consider Obama or Kamala one of them. It’s about a shared culture not skin color.
Here is a prominent MAGA person on X, black American.
There’s a ‘not all skin folk are kin folk’ type of thing. Not my battle or business.

They allow the 1 drop rule ------ one drop of Negroid blood ---- and you're black.
Obama is mulatto --- not black.
It depends on who you ask. Some say mulattos are black. Many of them are proud to be black of course.
Exactly. Why have even conservative outlets just passed over how she's always called "black", but looks far more white than anything. I'd think that real blacks would be insulted.
What I am wondering is HOW/WHERE did she get the English last name of Harris since this is her maiden name? Do Jamaican's carry that name?
There is a brand of industrial sliced white bread carrying that name in France, maybe it’s her toasted nickname?🤭💐
I don't know, but Vinis' my best friends mother maiden name was Harris. I know a lot of people with that last name and it is of English origin if I'm not mistaken.
Yes Anglo influence in the West Indian Islands. The West Indian cricket team of the 70s and 80s were formidable opponents for us here in Oz. Surnames such as Richards, Haynes, Greenidge, Garner, Holding, Lloyd, Roberts, Marshall, Ambrose etc were feared, respected, heckled, by many Aussie crowds. (All black men, no doubt of West African descent.)
Thanks. I knew that name had to have came from somewhere other than Jamaica because it is too popular of a name here in the states. So the English must have loved passing that surname on to different countries.
Parts of the Jamaican dialect is Irish. From the Irish indentured servants brought to the island after the African slave rebellions.
Take a look at former pussycat doll Kaya Jones is Jamaican, no one believes her until she shows the family photos. Reggae Artists Bob Marley, his dad was Irish. Most of the islands are super mixed ethnically.
Thanks. I will remember this.
Very much the same in the States, yes. Most African-Americans have English surnames, right? Jackson, James, Carson, Johnson, Jones, Davis, Lewis, and so on through numerous generations going back to the transatlantic slave days.
Hmm. I don't think I learned this in any of my history classes. Thank you.
Jamaica is in the Commonwealth so maybe she got that name from a Limey.🤭💐
Could have.
8 of the top 10 most common last names in Jamaica are of British origin. You would probably be amazed at how many black people in the US have the last names Brown, Green, or Washington.
So true. Thanks.
Jamaica was an English and Spanish colony. A lot of British names down there. Also many British first names like ‘Barrington’
Thanks.
No, but she's 1/4 black and half indian. Jamaicans came from west africa.
No. Almost 50% black, based on her ancestry.
All human life originated in Africa, so technically wr are all African Americans
There was no "Africa" back thousands of years ago. There are theories that Pangaea existed up to the flood, so there was only one continent then. After the flood, people spread out from the mountains of Ararat in current Turkey.
i feel like 95% of people don't know the difference between NATIONALITY & ETHNICITY.
i know someone else who isn't African or Black... Obama
He's close to 50% black, same as Kamala. But Obama is 50% white, while Kamala is 50% Indian.
Perhaps she thinks she's black because she had a Brown Willie in her for a year or so back in the mid 90's....
Almost half her ancestry is black. That's why.
