A. American products will be cheaper.
B. More products will be made in America.
C. Chinese products will be forced to be made higher quality to compete.
Win Win.
Yup, but f China products, I don't want to support their genocide within.
It may not look like it at first glance, but employee income taxes are mostly borne by the employer because they have to pay you more to cover the taxes.
And you pay more to buy the product. It never comes out of businesses pockets.
This is so important. Everything is garbage now a days because China dragged down the standards on everything, so every company did the same to compete
If the amount of Cope and Seethe I’m seeing in my social media feeds is any indication. For whatever reason the Tariff plan seems to piss off some Libertarians more than the existence of the income tax did.
LOLbertarians are never happy about anything and they especially don't get how their beliefs only work in a utopia without other parties trampling all over them since they don't defend anything.
They’ve got a lot of good ideas, but they get lost in them, don’t know where to stop, and don’t know how to fight.
There’s a place for them after this, you just don’t want them in charge. OG Autists, though.
It’s gonna be tricky with where the liberals end up. They’ve historically been great at identifying problems, but that’s also been because they caused most of them so they could run problem-reaction-solution.
are they libertarians or liberaltarians?
Eh. From observation. Seems like self-proclaimed Libertarians who are just super absolutist ala “My way or the Highway” in their idea of how the “Free Market” is supposed to work.
remember, liberaltarian is nothing more than a liberal trying to hide their authoritarian ways from conservative by pretending to be libertarians... bill mahr is a good example.
If a libertarian is pissed about that then they are a fake libertarian.
Having seen the arguments go on now for a day. It seems to largely be the people who are functionally AnCaps but label themselves as Libertarian. To avoid the negative connotations and memes associated with being labeled an “Anarcho-Capitalist”.
Clashing with Nationalist sentiments held by other more moderate Libertarians and the wider American “Right Wing” in general.
It’s still amusing to watch though
They will be slapped in the head by increased prosperity after a while. My wife's country relies on high import taxes because they have a lot of off-the-books workers. Name brand anything costs more than here unless it's made there, buying American will Make America Great Again...
The big thing western countries need is cheap energy, the woke green wind and solar projects end up costing consumers and producers more for electricity making producers uncompetitive and consumers poorer.
Make energy cheap again.
Its smart decision making. Long term local stability and the local production capacity will benefit greatly. Couple this with no income taxes the local economy will thrive. Also better for national security to be sourcing national defense materials and manufacturing locally. Not within another country.
A lot of the build overseas because meh Cheaper is a fallacy, just as a lot of made-in-America goods are overpriced because of Meh Patriotism and not just the increased labor costs. They forced factories overseas with regulations.
No, it is most certainly cheaper to manufacture overseas.
They will work their citizens to the point of suicide for low paychecks.
They also have so many manufacturing facilities that the U.S. side of things simply does not have.
All of these are critical failures of policy on many fronts snowballing over decades, of course, but it's undeniable that it's cheaper overseas.
The "muh patriotism" for overpriced "X-in-America" products is true as hell though.
A lot of these companies are pretty deceptive, as they end up being "designed" in America, or "printed" in America, or "assembled" in America but still use Chinese materials and labor.
exporting countries will devalue their currency to make their exports more affordable, thus raising the value of the u.s. dollar, thus making commodities cheaper. The msm pundits whine about the effect on consumers but I don't consider myself a consumer, consumers would be lazy morons who've never produced anything,
Indeed, just as inflation only affects what is personally inflated in what you pay for. I locked our rent in for an additional 2 years, so we had no rent inflation these last 3 years. Moving in November from this house to a condo, going from 1995 to 1600. We don't use the finished basement of this rental house except for junk. The condo we are getting is about the same size as the main floor of the house. Has 24/7 doorman, closer to work with more transportation options for both of us via mass transit. Also will reduce utilities since we will only have one wall exposed to the weather.
Buying a lot of buy one get one free at Publix, our transportation is ultra cheap. Wife works at the hospital with free use of bus or hospital shuttle. I pay 33 bucks a month for the bus and subsidize with the occasional Uber ride, keeping under 100 in the winter and 50 in the summer. So inflation isn't much of an impact compared to most people.
As soon as liberal citizens realize China is on the same planet, and pollutes 10X more than the US, maybe they too will want to buy local. It just blows my mind that so few people understand what has been done to them.
The greed of people like Sam Walton, who was once all about Made in the USA, destroyed the country. People like Bill and Hillary helped him. Arkansas was at the center of the soul selling of the United States.
I thought Walmart went rogue after he died...
Not quite. He saw that other big box stores were killing it selling overseas junk. It certainly went into hyperdrive after he died, because by then no one cared anymore. They just wanted their cheap crap.
Did you know... Hillary Clinton sat on the BOD of Wal Mart?
Wow On Hillary's info! Walmart made a smart move selling groceries, a lot less sales of Chinese crap compared to years ago... Most of the crowds are on the grocery side. Amazon killing it!
They basically used the climate crisis scam to drive jobs to China. Many of the businesses that are making things there are run by North Americans. They just get that cheap Chinese labor to make a freaking killing. It must stop. What they have done needs to be exposed.
ayup
A "consumption tax" like this has a number of benefits over an income tax. The underground economy, which circumvents income reporting, still buys goods and is taxed like everyone else. Foreign manufacturers don't pay VAT tax on exports to the US, but US manufacturers pay VAT tax to foreign governments on their exports to VAT countries, creating a competitive disadvantage -- tariffs counterbalance that inequity.
Yes, My wife is Filipino and they tax all imports, but they have income tax as well. mostly government or corporation employees pay income tax. A huge portion pay no income tax at all or SS for that matter.
Save the country billions to eliminate it. The only downside is for the elite. They lose control of all that money and can't use the IRS retards to punish us.
ayup
More than tariffs will go into offsetting the income taxes.
Indeed, I read the EOs...
The federal income tax is illegal.
Stare income tax is not (technically). But that has to be handled by the states citizenry to remove it.
I fear the states will just raise theirs in response. But we will see. One step at a time
I live in a non-income tax state thank God. Once Trump is back in. We will see sweeping changes in who gets elected. The machine starts chugging along fast starting at the state level. Gets worse at the Fed level. The way laws are passed and politicians are elected has to change.
The ONLY thing I want out of this is a refined system that allows pre-payment at checkout for any imported goods.
Customs is a dick already, so I fully expect many problems to crop up with tariffs if they are done the way other countries are (payment at the door, for example, which is difficult for people who can't be there when their package is delivered.)
Tariffs are great in place of income tax, but it needs to be a refined system that doesn't have to come at the cost of screwing over the citizenry.
It will make it much easier to have positive thoughts from normies too.
Good input.
With no income tax, what other stuff will they still be deducting out of our paychecks?
Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, some kind of Medical Insurance, what else?
I wish we didn't have to pay medical insurance if we're Veterans.
Unemployment is paid by the Employer. SS may end up funded by seized assets. Medical care should be much cheaper once the grift is removed. Look at the posts on the US Debt Clock Twitter over the last less than a year for possible clues.
I wish we didn’t have to, period.
My dad is due for Medicare. No choice in signing up unless he wants to defer and get a big penalty in another year or however long it is.
We’ve gone almost our whole lives without insurance. We simply don’t go to the doctor if we can help it.
But now we’re going to be forced to pay for Medicare we don’t want. We can’t afford it. We’ve already given up everything and we’re still needing to rely on the credit card once a month.
