They are public servants. It's We The People that let them think and act as if they aren't.
The adults are the ones that understand this.
This is part of what's wrong with America. A lot of people think we have rulers and we don't.
Somewhere along the line politician became a full time job with benefits, and it should never be that--ever!
They work for us! Get it right! Get it straight! We call them 'public servants' for a reason!
I, of course, know that. I was just stating what the politicians have turned their part time service into-whether we liked it or not. They even get lucrative pensions-tell me I'm wrong!
Originally they were. Being a Congress critter was not a full time job that had tremendous perqs. They traveled to DC on their own dime, met for a couple of months, then went home to their job (eg: farming) So it was a hardship to serve.
And that aspect needs to be brought back.
I could only updoot this once... Davy Crockett served a term or two, volunteered to donate his salary instead of committing taxpayer funds to some semi-worthy-heart-tugging cause, and then died defending the Alamo from illegal immigrants...
It is time to MAKE THEM PUBLIC SERVANTS AGAIN!
They'd much rather be called public OFFICIALS. The proper term, public servants, puts them where they constitutionally belong. They are constitutionally-illiterate and for the most part, are bereft of integrity and honor.
The multi-party system was abhorrent to our Founders, stating that parties would be the ruin of our country. When party members focus on party agendas, the chains of the Constitution that were meant to bind them down became a moot point and eventually, non-existent.
More like pubic servants.
Politicians USED TO BE public servants. They recognized who they were serving. We need to go back to that as a re-establishment of this new republic.
This is a case of an oxymoronic analogy.
We fled England only to establish a larger form of rule. Politicians are the new royals.
They do not have to remain that way. People have been trained to view our government as a "set it and forget it" proposition. We, the people were always expected to be very watchful and attentive to what our public servants were or were not doing but our participation has been thoroughly diluted to voting and sometimes speaking out to our servants who care not one whit about our objections and concerns.
Those issues change when the people learn what their true duties and responsibilities are...and not before.
Which underscores the importance of proper education. It needs to inculcate proper respect for what the founders designed, why they made it that way, what it truly means, how it contrasts to what existed at that time and before, how it contrasts to other countries now, how it worked out, how it's been corrupted, how it can be restored. That last part, by the way, involves a LOT of civic duty, Christian ethics and moral obligations to the local and larger communities, especially in reestablishing a steady and convicted effort to rebuild guards against communist infiltration and keep them out.
Well said, my friend.
I once heard an Anglo comic say this " you yanks revolted over taxation without representation. How do you feel about it now?"
Animal farm !
Publically serrvng themselves with publc money
Or like calling a prostitute a "sex worker."
Oh, wait...
Public Servants once their job description, has become their motto. They turn the public into servants.
'gub'mint' workers, same thing.
Public servants would be FINE if they behaved as such.but they don't..
Here's a couple of public servants now: Tom snaps it off in her ass
I understand the joke he’s making but it’s not a very good one
