Years ago I would cash my check at my employers bank. Several of us did the same. I discovered that my ID requirements changed with my clothing. The whole shop got into my experiment. We would go in and get declined for lack of ID. Then each person would put a sweater on and go to sometimes the same teller. If you had the sweater on you only needed you DL No sweater? not cash of the check. We all used the same sweater and changed it in the parking lot. I learned a lot doing that experimnt. That was Boulder Colorado and 20 years ago.
It was more of an awakening. Yes I and all of us were mad but we all learned about the system that day.
"personal thought" When I went back in minutes later with that sweater on and the same lady cashed my check I was "MAD" is an understatement.
I used to work offshore in Long Beach which hosted an official Gran Prix with F1 type racers on city streets once a year. Like you, most of us would cash our checks at the bank the check was drawn on, which was a couple of blocks from the yard we kept rigs stacked at. I found myself with no ID and they were getting ready to send me away. I found my ID from Malibu Gran Ptix and gave it to the clerk. Malibu Gran Prix was a national chain that let you ride in their rotary engine go carts. It was no functional ID. She gave me the cash and started telling me sweetly how she had never met a real Gran Prix driver. I said it is nothing special. Took the cash and left.
This is where this story gets informative. I was later visiting my dad who was a stock broker with a degree in finance. I told him the story about the ID. He looked at me and said that if a person goes into a bank to cash a check, and they are in the issuing bank AND it is the issuing branch bank, they are compelled to cash it even if you have no ID. Why? Because after the 1st depression congess passed a law making it illegal for issuing bank and branch to refuse the check. Refusing to cash checks was rampant at banks in that time. He added that if a teller ever refused a check in that situation, that i should demand they call the bank manager, if they refused tell them my next act would be to call the FED and have them ckose the bank for refusing to cash.. That was in the 80's. My dad has passed and I do not know if the laws have changed. But I can say, I was out of state one time, lost wallet and got money wored to me and they gave a check. I did what my dad said and got my money.
Won’t shop there or ANYWHERE that requires an effing app to get best pricing. Sick of all the extra work. I’m also paying cash cause it’s nobody’s business what I buy and I don’t want cash option to end.
Totally agree about the app. Everyone wants you to use an app because they scrape massive amounts of personal data from your phone and use or sell it.
If you care about your personal info, stop using apps without reading the privacy policy. They are usually short and take like 2-3 minutes to read. If they’re long, you don’t want that app anyway cause they’re definitely raping your data.
Me too , sometimes I cringe when those digital coupons that u sign up for would save me a lot of cash . Like a buck or two on a product I buy a lot of , but I refuse to get in the system I also use cash ! I do punch in a phone number to get a minimal discount ( not as much as those digital savings ) it was the old school years ago grocery discount but the phone number is not mine and the name and address is fake , sometimes the cashier will say Thank you Heather I just smile wave and walk away! But the old school savings are being gone away with ,, they want you to do the digital , which I won’t do !
lol that’s so funny! I intentionally DONT buy anything that requires digital coupons, if enough of us do that maybe they will get the hint?! I also use a phone number that isn’t mine…..Tina. 😂
Hi Tina , Heather here , lol ! Those digital coupons really try to to bribe you . Sometimes the stuff is half price , I’m standing there thinking this is BS , but oh well ! This world is getting more sick as the years go by ! Been through hell and back only to face this horror in my old years lol . Staying close to God it’s my only peace !
I think we are living a parallel life Heather! And I’ve come to the same conclusion, staying close to God. The fact that everything is 50% off the day after Christmas should make everyone feel used and played. It’s a joke that the exact same product is worth 50% less in one day. I feel the tide turning though, they have made the manipulation too obvious now. I hope.
Everyone will have to have one certified poor person in their circle that will be tasked with shopping for everyone. A new cottage industry for the homeless.
I actually have a young care giver for my daughter ! She is connected with all that nonsense , but she understands why I don’t want to be. She looks like a blue haired lib , but is a Christian and strong trump supporter .. anyway she is all things computer and digital shopping etc . She does shopping for me a lot .. she says ,, myGosh look at what you’ll save ,, I’m like if you want to do it I’ll give u the cash, but I don’t want to be plugged into the machine
Reported. You know good and well they can't do that. And you're promoting whoever this is, obviously reading a script and baiting people into unnecessary panic, with no sauce, and it's not Q related.
even if they could do it, it can be easily gamified and exploited to death, meaning the program will last about a year or two, then kroger will have to explain the decline in profits because everybody's getting $500 worth of groceries for $50 to investors, and it'll be abandoned pretty quickly after.
Solution? Go to another store. Kroger loses sales, and abandons discriminatory prices. Another solution, someone takes them to court, costing Kroger legal costs. There should be no court that would approve anything that discriminates one class of citizens, and that is what this is, discrimination.
I stopped shopping at Kroger owned stores years ago when I started experiencing their draconic practices with the Novid crap... Boycott them all, let your dollar and feet do the protest.
Had this happen right in front of my eyes in Walmart. Was looking at press on nails one day. Too busy to sit and do my nails, thought press on would be quick solution. Had bought before and was checking out different styles and colors and suddenly all prices jumped by about .60! Couldn’t believe my eyes. I walked away, another lady walked up and prices changed again!
Now don’t buy in any store with digital price tags!

keep in mind if not wearing the sweater we were all wearing a shirt with our name on it. Go figure...
Mad.

I felt "put in my place" that day
A view of the matrix.
I still have that sweater and it still works.
If you want to destroy my sweater...
Pull this thread as I walk away...
Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked...
Haven't heard that one in a while. Good stuff.

What can you expect from 6 square miles surrounded by reality???😜

Agreed. Competition is the best simple remedy for almost all corporate stupidity.
I stopped shopping at Kroger (and Target, and Kohl's, and...) when I found out they were pro tranning out children.

Years ago, friend told me to download the Dunkin’ Donut app. I did a quick search and they wanted access to my pictures. Screw that nonsense.
remember "Hotmail"? ----- they partnered with Microsoft

Welp.... Kroger is going out of business soon.
...this will be gamified within a year and promptly abandoned...
still creepy and distopian, though.
Homegrown and local-farmer grown keep looking better and better.
1984 called, big brother is mad Kroger is outdoing them
Dude does a good job of explaining the situation and then does a hard slide turn onto the Communist onramp.

You need to buy a Faraday bag and put your phone in it. They are profiling you by the identity
What is a Faraday bag?
It protects your phone from being tracked. It prevents any signals from getting in or out of your phone.
