My old neighbor’s 8 year old bought a Cadillac back before the SSN replacement card process was amended.
They got contacted 6 years later when the loan went into default. Weren’t on the hook for it, but getting the issue fixed wasn’t easy. It helped that it was an eight year old buying a Cadillac. Not sure how this works for adults.
Wish my kids would buy me a new Cadillac. All I do is pay for college, braces, insurance, sports, gas, etc, etc. 😕

All those commercials for "home mortgage theft" protection make me wonder, "What legitimate business would allow some quit-claim deed as collateral?" It seems the businesses that are involved with this crime should be held accountable for it, along with the perpetrators, but NOT the homeowner.

Back in the day, my student ID card had my student ID number on it and could be used around town if you wrote checks - it was your SSN. I came across an old box of checks from that era and all the checks I wrote in town had my SSN on them. Kind of wild. But it wasn't a problem.
For argument sake, Data Mining is what A.I. seeks more. Than any thing else..Once taken and possessed, their systems knows the entire economic heartbeat of America. In the Wrong hands this could be bad.
