(I know there is a lot of debate on the actual numbers)
So in the spirit of "thinking for myself", I will continue to judge the tree by the fruit that it bears. Right now I think Russia is not worse than any other country, maybe better than a lot, but that does not mean we just totally forget what Russia was once. (Sorry for not expressing this point better. It's late, and I'm tired.)
You're judging Russia for that but not Finland which had even more bloody 1918s than Stalin's "purges"? Finland killed and oppressed more people in proportion to population than Stalin. Finland's concentration camps were first of that kind in Europe.
