SCOTUS only put a temporary halt to things until the 5th circuit has had time for its review. Basically, they're letting the thing play out procedurally.

Thanks for the clarification; you're right, the headline is misleading. And even if the Alien Enemies Act is denied the Trump administration in the long run, I'm quite sure there are other mechanisms they can use, including the President's right to deport whatever non-citizens he wishes.
Some legal eagle might explain how this is any different from the ruling on Trump's islamonazi travel ban:
Don't the self-styled gods in black robes swear an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and to obey the law? What if they don't? What if the liberal SCOTUS decided to rule that, say, that the driving of motorized transport posed too grave a risk to public safety and health, in fact it kills people every single day, and banned it? Would we have to obey that, just because it came down from On High? Answer is no.

As if any circuit court gives a flying fuck about the constitution or any law Trump can activate at any time for whatever reason. How many times have they stopped him cold from performing his duties as outlined in the constitution and laws passed by both houses of Congress? They never cared before, and they will never care for his remaining time in office. They would probably stop his having discretion on deployment of the military.
Well, as we all know here, "The military is the only way." I keep hoping to see that enacted soon... on a host of American problems and problem people.
He always has the Martial Law card to play. Once he plays that card, the congress will probably move to restrict that right to limit future uses of that.

The remaining states of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, along with the Canal Zone, continued under the jurisdiction of the Fifth Circuit. The Canal Zone, however, lost its status as part of the Fifth Circuit in 1982 when it was transferred to Panamanian control.
Same 5th Court of U.S. Court of Appeals that was in charge of PANAMA CANAL that was given AWAY by 1 President Carter and the court is fine with that, The COURT didn't stand up and say, "Hey you can't do that!!!" I don't think they see the COMBO PUNCH COMING

Yellow journalism at its finest. I am convinced this constant crisis mode for clicks is a big portion of the issue. People either panic and make snap decisions that need WAY more information to overcome cognitive dissonance OR they get burned out and apathetic. Our guard dog ( journalism) of our republic has been a disaster for years. When you add who owns it you get a rabid dog.
