It’s ridiculous how many truck drivers I have had come up to me and show me an address on their phone, and then just stand there because they can’t speak one word of English. There’s no way that they can safely follow posted directions or warning signs.
Yes. Delivery drivers too. Door dash, Uber and grocery delivery apps too. Totally over run with non English speaking people. Its so annoying when they shove their phone in your face.

They are supposed to write/read English also according to DOT regulations, but CDL mill’s are handling CDL’s out like candy. To add to the chaos there is now an automatic trans restriction on CDL’s, so I have to drive a god awful automatic and any monkey that can hold a steering wheel is driving now. I just want to walk away from the whole industry at this point.

Force every truck driver who is pulled over to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. If they stumble over the pronunciation, back to south America you go!
And if they just stumble, do a field sobriety test while you're there.

Always was the case. They have to be able to read and understand highway signs and maps, to say the least.
Now please extend that to all customer service.
Including call centers.
Hopefully, it includes reading and writing as well as speaking. Plenty of traffic signs out there. Plenty of forms to fill out.

I would think Mexico can do/require what they want if American drivers are delivering there. It's a sovereign country.
If god damned pilots have to do it all over the world, truckers in America can do it.
That's already part of the FMCSA. Just enforce it
