This is old news to us long timers. Alcatraz was originally a military base and it's been well known there is an underground part / facilities ; possible more than one floor we were always told.
Alcatraz was once a Costal Fort whose gun controlled the entrance to San Francisco Bay.
It only started a transition to Prison once both changing technology, IE Dreadnaughts and Battleships, and changing strategic situation rendered its status as a Fortress irrelevant. Fun fact It was a Military Prison before transitioning into a Federal Penitentiary.
So I’m not sure why it was considered a site o worth enough to drag archaeological equipment out to. When they would have known going in there was a Fortress there. And probably could have pulled the Blueprints of the Fortress if they truly wanted to.
Unless it was just to test the equipment in something approximating a real world dig site.
That's really cool. This same type of radar had also found steel beam structures underneath the Pyramids in Egypt.. This world is amazing and full of mysteries. I don't think we should ever get bored!
