I give my dogs Nexgaard for flea and tick protection and other meds for heart worm and other parasite protection. The heart worm meds include ivermectin but Nexgaard does not. Meds don’t keep ticks off the dogs, but soon as a tick bites the dog, it dies. I live in an area where ticks are abundant and a real problem. The ticks will often jump off the dogs and find a way to get on me and every now and then I get bit. So the other day I was feeling like I was coming down with something and swallowed a glob of horse ivermectin as I sometimes do. The sick feeling quickly went away. The next day I felt something on my torso and —damn— it was a tick. But it was dead - like what happens on my dogs. Didn’t even get a bump. I wonder if it was the ivermectin in my body. Anecdotal but wanted to share for frens in tick-plagued areas.

Thanks for the info. We sometimes get a tick on the dog.
Also, in an emergency put a wad of wet tobacco on ticks or leaches. They curl up and fall of, taking their mouthpiece with them. If you try to pick them off, the site becomes infected, because their jaws are still inside you.
LOL, reasons for packing some Marlboros in the emergency kit. But seriously.
The best insecticides are nicotinics
It also gives instant relief for bee or wasp stings.
I did a adult palm-sized burn, skin peeling, on a small child. With tobacco leaves.
No scar.
It kills pain too.
Not if you are a Honey BEE.
great health tip for backpackers!
I've heard that Lyme was also created by the government--would be interested in learning more about that.

Yep.
Nexgard hasn't got my approval for my dog. The only way it works is POISONING the blood of the dog to kill fleas and ticks. I wonder what it is doing to the dog? A quick search finds many people say it can kill you pet. I don't know but I wouldn't use it on my pet. Jus sayin
I’m a pet sitter in one of our clients. Dogs was slowly dying, not eating food for days. I was supposed to pet sit for them, and they got the dog to eat a little bit, but we both agreed it was the next guard. I worked with the dog for 10 days and by the time they got home, she was back to normal. We all agreed it was the Next guard and they will no longer give it to her. She’s my favorite dog that I pet sit for.
The ONLY way it kills ticks is to poison their blood!
Thank you. I will discontinue it and experiment with safer options. Do you use something else for ticks? I have found the citrus collars don’t do anything.
Fenbendazole is well tolerated by dogs. As always, do your own research on this before dosing the animals 😉.
I am trying the Furry collar now. It seems to keep the fleas off but he does get a tick every now and then. I just check him daily. He thinks I am petting him but I'm actually checking for the ticks! Kek
I wonder if that's part of why they like to be pet. Instinctual contentedness that their master is checking them for parasites
Might be. I know when I tried that poison on my dog, he kept biting one of his back legs. He did that for about 2 weeks. It caused something neurological in his brain.
Wow it's good you got him off of that stuff. We talk so much about how screwed up the HUMAN medical system is, but it makes sense that the pet medical system is something to be wary of as well
Maybe it was the bourbon. :D
I'm tempted to try it on my STD... the gift that keeps on giving thanks to an ex...
It do.
👍🏼. It works on my cats’ ear mites, too.
I believe Revolution, anti tick medicine, contains Ivermectin. It is put on topicaly.
I believe it is a derivative, Selemectin. It doesn't seem to work on tics for my dog though. It does help with fleas and, of course, is a dewormer.
I have a friend that was suffering from the after effect of a tick bite in a not-so-comfortable place. After a few days of discomfort and no apparent signs of healing, I recommended they try topical administration of ivermectin. It was gone in 2 days.
I eliminated a papilloma wart with topical ivermectin. Hasn’t come back either. Looked it up and found vets use it for that in cattle. They do subcutaneous injections, but I’m not sticking a needle in my twig.
Where do you get topical ivermectin? Thanks... have one of those warts. Won't go away..
I used the horse dewormer from Amazon. I would apply a dab after my bath once a week. I would use a scrub brush on the area while the skin was soft in the tub. Then I’d apply a tiny dab over the affected area and rub it in. After a couple of months it was gone. Hasn’t returned but if it does I’ll repeat the process. Good luck.
Once a week... great thank you. Figure it will take a few months like you said.
Just for the record, IANAD and YRMV. IYKWIM. Acronyms, really? I hope you get positive results. Magic dirt. Ivermectin derived from soil samples. From a golf course in Japan. WTF right? I know of at least two other examples of Magic dirt. If you’re interested in that sort of thing look up Lymnian earth. Interesting history. Also Montmorillonite clay. Supposedly used to regenerate bone loss in astronauts subject to extended weightlessness. Magic dirt? Or delusional nuttery? HWIK? Maybe add some Mumbo Jumbo along with the dirt? Again, HWIK? I pray. Often. Nothing impromptu or extemporaneous, all Orthodox formulaic. And I have come to completely believe in all that too, so maybe Jesus curing the man born blind with clay and spit means something, but probably not having to do with Lymnian earth, but they probably knew of it at that time, so who knows. It’s probably inconsequential to theosis, except I have complete faith the event took place as described. Clearly any sane modern American would plainly see I’m delusional. I’m in the OG cult, my friend. Pray for me. So, I hope I’ve dissuaded you, or anyone else from taking any sort of medical, (or any other) guidance from the likes of me. I’m a worse doofus than Kramer on Seinfeld. Gotta say though, I’m with George on the hat thing. Love ‘em. Those Lithuanian Orthodox really sport a jaunty pillbox. lol. Oh, God… I’m an Orthobro…. Aw crap. Lord have mercy. Kek Oh, and also I’ve recently heard of people ruining their liver from megadosing on pony paste. So ask your vet before treating your pony. Seriously. Don’t be delusional with medicines. Best wishes and Lord have mercy on you, Darkest Maga.
I agree about overdosing. Just a little dirt. :) best wishes to you too.
If you don't mind, how long did it take to go away and how much/how often did you apply it?
I would apply pony paste after my bath. I would use my fingernail brush to scrub and abrade the area after a good soak. Then I would apply a small dab. I did this once a week or so. It took a couple of months but it’s gone and hasn’t returned.
Thx!
Great suggestion. Glad it worked!
You can get ivermectin cream in the lice department at Walmart.
All parasites, including cancer! That's what they recommend to people, that live after they go through their life exterminating radiation! We live in the a devils world! People are killed for profit! God gave us common cures, but men put their trust in science!
This is great news Learna! Thanks for sharing with us! We have 2 dogs, thankfully (knock on wood) don't usually get fleas or ticks, but good info to have. We give ours the dog ivermectin dewormer each month and that's it.
Wish it helped with mosquito bites. Don't know if it kills them after they bite me (hope it does), but over the weekend I got bit up mostly in one area, probably 10-15 bites on back of my leg/calf. So freaking itchy, yesterday and today I've been so tired/worn out. I've been taking ivermectin (on empty stomach) for maybe 2 weeks now (seeing if it will help my bp - yes it has brought it down a little) and started also taking some fenben after I eat about a week now.
You could try to apply rubbing alcohol on the mosquito bites. You may have to reapply a few times, but I've found it usually helps. -not a dr, lol-
Or any high-proof spirits. 80 proof is 40% ethyl alcohol. Kills by dehydrating the microorganisms. I gargle with whiskey for bad cases of sore throat. Far more powerful than Listerine.
Hope you feel better soon! Ceylon cinnamon extract is supposed to be good for Bp. I put a dropperful in my coffee. You can also get Ceylon cinnamon tea bags.
Thank you!
It does
Yep, it does kill ticks. It also kills scabies mites. A quick dig pulls quite a few solid research articles. (A buddy of mine got a wicked case of scabies from sleeping on an infested mattress...IVM fixed him up in no time flat. He took the pill form, and I've just ordered him some of the IVM topical cream.)
Here's a list of places to buy it -- pill & cream.

Thanks for the link!
Ivermectin helps with chigger itch too.
I have had two kids get bit by ticks this year..one developed a rash and pink eye effects....the other a circle but not a bullseye. Topically and orally administered ivermectin cleared it up after a few days for both.
I have been using iv ivermetim with glycol for the dog hart worms for years. I can't say that I hardly never see flees or ticks even when we been in the woods.
I can't say that I hardly never?
Sorry, but your double or triple negatives are hurting my brain.
Does Ivermectin prevent fleas and ticks or not?
Haven't seen a flea or tick on the dogs in years.
Well, technically ticks are parasites.
Have you noticed any effectiveness on fleas?
I can’t speak to fleas - my dogs haven’t had them and have not seen them around. Could be effective though. It’s worth a try.
Years ago, years before the covid years. I had an Anatolian Shepherd who had mites. Nothing worked to help him except Ivermectin. I used the Cow Dip (external use only since it has an ingredient to help it stick to the hide). At the time, one of my kids had lice and none of the over-the-counter shampoos did anything. So I put a little of the Cow Dip into some shampoo to try. One dose. One dose! And the lice were gone.
Unfortunately, in my case at least, it didn't take care of fleas on my dogs. Still looking for a solution for that.
Good information. Seems like the animals have been getting better healthcare than us humans.
Except all the vaccines they want animals to take. I have heard that dogs don’t live as long as they used to. Back when they only got rabies shot and we never took animals to the vet unless they were dying.
Yes I’ve heard that too. I am now suspicious of all vaccines. May go to rabies only for my dogs.
Back in like 1997 our dog and house got infested with fleas and I had two small children. A lady came over and sprayed the house with some non-toxic solution which my husband thinks was either a desiccant like Diatomaceous earth or silica gel. It was something that broke their reproductive cycle. Some people say boric acid works, but that is not totally non-toxic. Anyway, we never saw a flea again.
Yes, that's what we use. External application. Works well for small children and dementia patients. Just a little cold spot.
The 0.5% ivermectin is the only type of product that works for lice. You do need to make sure the application covers hair and scalp, and keep it up with long enough to kill the nymphs as the eggs hatch. It's available OTC. Avoid all the other kinds.
Source: One year, my kid's entire grade was infested with lice. It was all over their classrooms and they were passing it back and forth. It went on for so long, the school stopped sending kids home as it was hurting their attendance numbers.
