Fake fighting. Elon was already okay with removing the EV mandate months ago.
That and no EV rebates/subsidies in the BBB. That got his panties in a pinch.
Elon has said repeatedly over the past few years that Tesla does not need subsidies.
The left will support removing subsidies from Elon, and that will give precedent for removing subsidies from pharma, universities, etc.
It's not like he's banning EVs, just saying you don't HAVE to buy them. But of course they'll bitch, moan and sue anyway.
If you want an EV, you can still buy one. If it makes economic sense for your situation, have at it. Buy a Tesla, buy a Prius, buy a Lucid if you're made of money, or buy an ICE vehicle. ...Heh. ICE.
A Prius has always been a hybrid---unless they changed their genetics. Extremely different from a pure EV. You can tank up with gasoline and get 40-50 mpg even in city driving (higher actually than on highway).
I just got mine 2022 Jeep Cherokee - not the Grand Cherokee, which means it's basically a car - almost $450.
So like your house , you don't really own it you lease it from your government.

Yes. Property tax on stuff you own, house, car, boat, plane. They charge me for the current price of concrete on a driveway I had built years ago. I can't wrap my head around any of that.
I think that explains why there are four auto parts stores in my little town. People keep cars a long time here. They do in California but it's not like there. It's much more humid here. Maybe if I keep a car long enough, they'll owe me.

Please ban forcing manufacturers to make special California emissions systems as it obstructs interstate commerce by placing a silly burden on car manufacturers, and all buyers have to do is travel to another state to bypass it.
