I was calling this months ago when Norway was complaining they had to shut down their humanitarian programs in other countries because they were actually funded by USAID money that had been cut by DOGE. I just didn't expect it to come out so soon.
This USAID thing goes far everywhere. In Ireland and I know a Chinese woman (who is not an Irish citizen) who is employed by an Irish charity company that is funded by USAID. She had to worry about losing her job after the DOGE cuts, but thankfully kept hers.
Meanwhile I'm an American struggling to get a decent job after my Masters.
Yeah my parents have some contacts trying to get some statistics roles for me. Overall job market is still bad though, slightly better than last year to be fair, but still terrible

They need to make most of the generic drugs over the counter. That would make them almost free. Most people can self-diagnose what is wrong with themselves. But you need to go through the system to get the drugs you need.
There is not a single drug invented in the last ten years that I need. If I do need the system to make me healthy, then I can go that route.
We need to be allowed to create an alternate health care system.
We used to live near the Border - when I was a child - my Mom would take us over to Mexico with her - walk into ANY drug store - request penicillin - they would ask how much, and how many - Fill it right there on the spot, and we were off. No prescription, no questions asked. That was decades ago, and I am sure still the same today.
COVID opened a lot of eyes to the corruption of big pharma. They no longer have the moral authority to tell us we can’t have these drugs.
The gatekeepers liked to tell us that they were protecting us from ourselves or that inappropriate use of antibiotics would cause out of control mutations. I don’t believe them anymore. Plus like you said, most of the rest of the world has easy cheap access with no issues. We’ve been played.
Still the same in pretty much all of Mexico and Central America. Most simple things that are rx only in the US are over the counter down there (in some cases, narcotics/opioids and mental pills are rx only).
But there's no need to see a doctor to get something like penicillin or prednisone. Not to mention, hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin...
It's funny when a lot of people in these other countries try to lecture or look down on the US healthcare system, saying how they're so much better. So basically they're saying the US just needs to find some sucker country to foot our medical bills just like they do. And find some sucker country to defend and protect us free of charge. Apparently that's what all the best countries do.

It should be the other way around. If an American company, develops and produces a drug in the United States, then the American people pay exponentially less than the folks across the seas. In short, if big pharma wants to stay big they charge non Americans through the rear end. Ideally this forces overseas govs and pharma companies to develop their own drugs to level the playing field. Presto, big pharma ain't so big no more
I want too see Congress pass legislation forbidding the expenditure of fund to any/all non-profits, NGO's, and foreign gov't at any level, without specific legislation, including total amount, approving it from Congress.
Perhaps part of the problem is also that Americans use about 10 times more medicine than Europeans. Additionally, the amount of morbidly obese people or simply fat people in the US is astonishing. Europeans are healthier overall. Much healthier.
While the Danish are laughing, selling Ozempic to American larders... some amount of it is the terrible food system in the US, but only to an extent. Self control still applies, as well as fat acceptance and even promotion...
And we are paying for all the illegals and all the permanent residents and all their anchor babies because they don't pay anything because they are all on Medicaid
