Kind of like the huge eye sore wind farms near Palm Springs, Ca. Some on the ground, some free wheeling and some feathered. A few work though. What is the cost to dispose of the waste that is already accumulated??? Huge scam.
I drove through eastern NM last year, between Alamagordo and I-40, and there were miles and miles of wind turbines. A bunch in TX too.
Was a BIG eye sore and KILLED a lot of birds for very little energy production.
Its only real purpose was to fill someone's pockets. So I'd say it performed as designed.

Nothing produced so far is ‘renewable’. A wind turbine will not in its lifetime produce enough power to pay back what was used to build it.
It then becomes hazmat waste that can not be ecologically disposed of. Turbine blades are not recyclable. The hundreds and thousands of gallons of oil in the gearboxes are pumped from the ground. It’s a scam on the American taxpayer. Grift as detailed in comments above. Same with solar. Toxic waste after producing less in its lifetime than required to build it.
The only true renewable is oil. Generated in the earth. Rockefeller duped us all way back claiming oil is a limited resource. A marketing scheme amazing in its brilliance. Same as diamonds. Debeers still says they’re a girls best friend and they’re rare. Haha. Marketing in its most lucrative form to suck the cash from your wallet.
They would be if they cost less, worked better, were reliable, weren't so damaging to the environment (including wildlife), weren't intermittent in their output, didn't use large amounts of land, and a few other things.
For homes and individual businesses, solar can make sense. As a government project for helping to power the grid, not so much.
