I get that people are struggling, but guilt-tripping Christians into defending a bloated system isn’t the answer. Real patriots and believers don’t equate faith with obedience to government paychecks. The test of character isn’t whether we keep the machine running — it’s whether we stand for truth when comfort’s on the line. If this shutdown exposes corruption and waste, maybe it’s mercy, not cruelty. Pain sometimes shows where we’ve put our trust. By the language, im assuming your not a Christian yourself or do I have that wrong?

You sound like a leftist. Working for the government is comparable to working for unions, and it's crucial to save your money because a strike or shutdown can drag on for an extended period. It's telling that I haven't heard anyone express concern about a government shutdown impacting anyone other than the overpaid government workers. The notion of sacrifice is laughable—you're not working for free. You enjoy paid holidays, several weeks of vacation, and sick pay, while most Americans are lucky to get just one week of vacation per year. It's time to recognize the disparity.

Sorry, but I work the private sector and am screwed beyond belief, while you who absorb our taxes and future debt, get fat pensions.

The US Government is the largest employer in the entire world. Walmart is the second, JFYI.

I get none and as of now, I get 1200 a month social security when I hit retirement age, which is so far out that 1.2k will buy me a nice loaf of rye bread at that point.

Cry me a river over your plight, my future is so bright, I was thinking of taking the vax just to end it all early.

I can understand why this feels painful. No one wants to see families struggle or go without pay — especially those who have served faithfully in what they believed was a patriotic role. That hardship is real, and it deserves compassion. But there’s also a deeper truth we can’t ignore: the system itself has grown far beyond what our founders intended. Many who work within it are sincere people caught in a machine that feeds on dependency, not service. A true patriot doesn’t serve a government that enslaves its people — they serve the people from whom that government derives its power. It’s possible to love your country deeply while recognizing that the federal structure has become the very thing our forefathers warned against. Sometimes the pain we feel in moments like this isn’t punishment — it’s exposure. It reveals which systems were built on sand. If you’re sincere, then maybe this is your moment to start seeing that you’re not the enemy, but you’ve been working for one. And if this post is meant to stir emotion or division, it only proves how desperate that same system has become to hold hearts hostage through guilt instead of truth. The real service to this nation begins when we stand on the side of freedom — even when it costs us comfort.

Unfortunately the only way to fix our corrupt government is to crash it and start over. It will be hard for many and in the end most of the federal government jobs shouldn’t exist.

The community is bigger than the loudest and most strident voices. And there are many who are only here to stoke division (despite the mods' awesome job of keeping them -mostly- in check). Lots of things suck in this country, and we're all suffering in different ways.

In my town I'm still seeing businesses close, that never recovered from covid shutdowns; I often run into people whose homes were lost in engineered fires; a friend of mine who had a business and blue-chip clients before covid is today homeless while working. I read posts from the silver stackers and enjoy them despite not being in a position to participate; I fight off the occasional feelings of envy. I, like many here, have lost family and friends to death in this undeclared war. And plenty of people lost to delusion and blackpills. There's no way to list the prices we've all paid over the years.

Yet we are all here, joined by the knowledge, faith and hope that the best is yet to come despite the pain we've been enduring .

I pray of you: pay attention to the voices of hope, and the voices of reason. Look for the kindness and you will find it, here and offline. Avoid the knee-jerk and outrageous hyperbolic posts. Block some if you need to. And maybe for the specific shutdown topic, avoid the detached macro analysis posts. There are many good people here, and we all know the macro moves have human costs. I'll say a prayer for you tonight, and I know a lot of other anons will too, whether you ask them to or not.

Government will change. Everything will change. Maybe it will affect your job, maybe not. Somehow it'll work out. I'll leave you with u/#q2450 and then a prayer.

So, you single out Christians as the non-caring and oblivious, and then procede to not even mention Christians nor evidence of their turning of a blind eye and being apathetic to your, and others, situation, albeit temporary and not a near-death situation.

I'll gladly offer up prayers for you, fren. Even if under under accusation and persecutory finger-pointing. Take a deep breath and a few steps back and look at the big picture without looking for a scapegoat.

Maybe just be quiet, so to speak, and don't put to paper those stray thoughts of blame, anger and percieved persecution by those whom you are feeling abandoned and forgotten.

Philippians 4:11-13 ESV [11] Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. [12] I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. [13] I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation and be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12

It's going to be ok. I know the stress and fear and helplessness of having the duty and the means by which to execute said duty of "hunter gatherer", head of household, breadwinner, etc taken away in an insant.

I was forced suddenly into medical retirement in my prime 8 yrs ago. I could put Dr. in front of my name, because I earned it, by chose not the pretention it held. Kept me grounded and on same level.as my patients. (Clinical PharmD infectious disease and psych).

I pretty much stay home and take care of what I can and my cool wife works so very hard. It's hepled our marriage of 34 years, rather than stress it. Not by my works or effort, buy by faith and reliance on God/Christ.

Disability, a word that i thought that would never apply to me, is my reality. It's very difficult mentally. Very. I now make in a month what i made in a week and its taxed.

God supplies, any by His math we have extra every month. If you trust, TITHE (even if you cant afford to...just give some. It must be from a joyful heart with gladness and faith) and rely on Him for strength and guidance, it's very fulfilling and sustains. He will open the storehouses as He promised. Does it rain money? No, but contentment, peace, joy and no (less) worry. Sometimes extra money, not gonna lie. Not oodles of money, usually just what we need and a little extra. Indescribable joy and exuberance at His faithfulness.

Good luck. This too shall pass and will be only a memory in time. It should also be a teaching experience. Teaching you how to cope, how to look for good and not to blame others for not reacting as you'd like. People will reliably let one down.

Dont rely on man. Rely on God and pray for discernment and wisdom and guidance.

That’s all I got, fren.

P.S. Christ will turn that heart of stone into a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 11:19 ESV [19] And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,

What was the percentage of the DC population who voted Democrat? What is the same percentage in the general government worker population? It is the Democrats shutting down the government and makig a circus out of depriving their base of their income in support of illegal immigrants. Surely as frens we can agree that there are government employees who legitimately are trying to provide value to their customers/citizens.

It is the system that they work within that warps the outcomes. Seeing this system grind to a halt is what is being celebrated.

Worked for the government for 20 years. Went through many a shutdown to include the longest one. Always was paid after it was over, to which I felt immensely guilty, and realized then why congress always played chicken with our pay thru shutdowns, as they knew they’d pay us anyway. (Unfortunately Trump called their bluff his time.) I also know for a fact, during these shutdowns employees have many outlets to secure help if they don’t have savings. Lastly, know for a fact the government is heavy with useless employees. Worked with many of them and frankly those useless ones seemed to vote democrat. It’s hard as hell to get rid of a useless government employee. Fortunately I could retire when forced to take the jab and did so.

Yeah, I don't think so fren... You're making a sizable assumption... Christians aren't the issue here, and you blaming them for this current hardship is a waste of your time and energy. Sure, it sucks to be without pay right now, but it isn't Christians or this movement that is responsible for that.

You need only look at Cryin Chuck and the Senate Democrats for the true culprits. They are the ones gambling with your life and laughing the whole time.

Further, there are no guarantees in life. Your employer happens to be the government. I got RIF'd from a private company 2 years ago. You're experiencing what many others have already gone through before you.

One last thing: frens and frogs everywhere are not celebrating that some people are being negatively impacted by this. We are celebrating that the old guard is disintegrating in front of our faces, in real time, as promised. 2 very different things.

They can all take money from their TSP without penalties. Just pay the normal tax.

Back when I worked construction, I missed paychecks all the time,I got zero paid holidays, zero vacation days and zero sick days. No 401k we got nothing extra.

Local credit unions are offering zero or very low emergency loans. When people get their back pay they can pay them off

Also most adults can handle missing a few checks

If I understand things correctly, the people working with no pay WILL eventually be compensated for the work they ARE doing right now during the shutdown.

If your lifestyle is set up to live paycheck to paycheck, I'm thinking that's on you, not me.

Blaming me for your addiction to the endless cycle of iPhone upgrades every year or your multiple cable tv subscriptions or that darn addiction to eating rib eye steaks or take out every night is kind of falling on deaf ears at this point. When is enough enough? When is excess excessive? Most people know the breaking point and how to do with less.

So, here we are, listening to another victim of the left. They're always the victims, aren't they? They are never the heroes they think they are. They never have solutions, only problems that big government somehow needs to fix. Democrats can fix everyone's problem by just throwing money at it, preferably through an NGO so they can unaccountably launder money.

I know, and most likely you know, that government shutdowns happen because of inter party disputes. If you are a government worker that has not anticipated this, you are most likely unemployable in the real world and are deserving of the self-induced hardship you are experiencing right now.

They had a saying in the Navy, "Prior planning prevents piss poor performance". That seems applicable here.

BTW military personnel often experience things of this nature during long unexpected deployments. The banks, creditors, and landlords know this and will work with them. Maybe you should work with them instead of shifting blame to Christians. Have you talked to your local church about assistance? (I'm thinking "no".) You might be surprised.

What about your union rep? Surely a government employee is in a union whether they want to be or not. What are they doing for you and what are your dues doing for you? I thought so.

(Sorry, I had to stop and throw my Boston butt in a crock pot. $2.49 a pound -bone removed - and it is slathered in "Butt Rub", that's literally what its called at Sam's club. In about 10 hours it will be shredable and I can eat it as is, in a sandwich, in a taco, on nachos, in a salad, etc. I just made 5+ meals for next week for about $20. Hint, Hint. Stop eating steak and eat the other "red meat" and stop eating out every night. Sorry for the rant.)

Trying to play the victim and blaming others for your problems is not constructive. I think that's the bottom line here.

The cabal is what is ruining the lives of millions right now and has taken the lives of hundreds of millions already over the centuries.

Big government systems are enabling the cabal, so they have to be reduced for mankind's future or they will be used to abuse the population.

I'm sorry it has affected you personally.

A worm is born with no arms and legs and still manages to feed and house itself and it's family WITHOUT public assistance. Why can't you? Time to wean yourself off that big government teet, man. You're better than a worm.

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.' -Matthew 6:26-34
