I know from research that many of those people immigrated to the US at separate times, and I know the connections, but it will be nice to have DNA matches as confirmation of the paper records.

I don't know if anyone else has covered this point, but for some reason, most Christians today believe that when God said what He did about Israel, He was talking about the Israelites of the Old Testament, not the current country which happens to be named Israel. They are two entirely different things. I try to tell people this.
Most of the people in Israel are not ethnically related to the Israelites of the Old Testament. Random DNA testing in the past has shown many to not even have any Semitic DNA at all. They are Ashkenazi Jews from Germany. They are called that, as they are supposed to be descended from Ashkenaz in the Old Testament, but there are those who say that they are really descended from his brother, Togarmah. They ae thought be some to be the "name stealers" from Tartaria, most of northern Asia.
My ancestry on my male line came from southwestern Germany, but my Y-DNA goes back to central Asia.
My Heritage is starting to do 100% genome DNA testing, which is supposed to nail down ethnicity even better, and will allow matches with people having common ancestors more than the current 5 or 6 generations back. In my family, my ancestor from Germany was my 4th great-grandfather. I have found DNA matches in the descendants of every one of his children who have descendants (8 of them). The new testing, after enough people participate, will allow me to get matches that go back a generation or two back in Germany. I know from research that many of those people immigrated to the US at separate times, and I know the connections, but it will be nice to have DNA matches as confirmation of the paper records.
In summary, I don't think any of my money should be taken from me at gunpoint (IRS) and sent to the country named Israel just because of the name and where it is.
