Great, recently dropped a G on a single lithium ion battery for my old golf cart (lighter, cheaper, more powerful, last longer - 10 yrs vs 4). Love the diff from the 6 batteries used prior. Wonder how much these kilo silver ones are? I just putt around a trailer park kek
This explains why Samsung execs flew to Mexico last Sunday and penned a deal with Freesillo Mine (largest silver mine in Mexico) to purchase 100% of output for X number of years at it is rumored 71.00 per ounce. These batteries would be priced out of affordability if supply was left to market price in the present economic world of precious metals environment.
That would make sense. Because it is solid state and not chemical electrolyte there is basically very low to zero wear. It is basically an advanced ultra-capacitor. The electrons are stored in a static nano-grid.
if the first EV's were solid state silver I would of been more keen on them. I do not like the lithium. Heck I have lithium batteries for everything else but once they explode, they cause much damage. Wonder if they push silver up to the price of Palladium or platinum or if all 3 became equal if they could use any of the 3.
We do but it will not be cheep. PSLV and unalocated silver in the comex would cover it. And the batteries would last a long time and the silver is recoverable, like the lead in today's regular batteries.
People are using the current ones,in place of a generator. It's great not to have all the noise. These will be very popular, great for cell phones as well.
My father claimed his new 1950 Ford Sedan got 20 on the highway with a 3 on the tree and electric overdrive rear end. When he kept it well tuned up. And it was stamped out on Sherman tank stamps with nearly the same metal .
I know it is not possible but is a thing that would be super cool. Bring your own silver. Buy the car and there is a compartment like in the center console and you have to slot a 1 kilo bar at a specific size and close the hatch.
And then your rival from the agency resurfaces after faking his own death with a plan to steal the DARK SILVER, the only silver bar that can fuel his new Prius-turned-doomsday-machine.
I'm guessing there's no weight savings, but at face value this doesn't make much sense to me. As things progress with EV batteries, they should get cheaper which is contrary to what silver is doing.
I won't be buying an EV, but I wish other options would become more mainstream like hydrogen fuel cells. There was some R&D there a number of years ago, Honda I think it was, and even talking about refueling stations in CA where the testing was going to roll out.
Or maybe TMTG/TAE will come out with fusion power plants for cars down the road lol
I didnt know it was the silver that was best for solid-state, but I know they are definitely safer i remember the early videos of people cutting into paper thin cells powering an led and it stayed lit, with mild flicker. Its may prove to be a huge leap for many aspects of tech and if as safe as they claim theoretically (we will see if they can still spark on the roads) then EVs would be potentially safer than gas in some cases and with a 20 year life span and potentially more in later generations it may just make EVs worth it over a Gas counterpart. If they become affordable as well that is.
Maybe im just hopeful haha. I just wanna see some good news for tech again. Its been so negative lately.
It uses a silver- carbon anod and this is why they are buying silver.

That's only going to push silver prices up.
It's huge. And it looks very good with the fast safe charging,
I heard that the this new EV battery requires 1 kilogram of silver… each!!
@ $70= $2,468.00

I know right? I just swapped out 4 lead/acid for 3 300ah LiPO4 batteries for my RV.
Look at the bright side fren, us stackers can prob just trade some Ag for some of those new batteries. 🤘🏼
That's what I've heard as well.
1kg of pure silver or is 1kg of mined silver ore required to manufacture enough material to make a single cell?
Pure (prob 99.9)

in 20 years
That could make electric cars worth a second look.
Agree. I'm not a fan of them, but i could be,most of my driving is around town.
600 miles , 9 minutes......you have to pee & with a nice stretch/walk 9 minutes FAN (of torque)
I never thought of them much, until my brother rented one and said he is going to buy one.
Wife drives a Volt ( plug in hybrid)which GM gave to China. I like driving when it's all electric. ~50 miles

Where will they get all that silver?
It's avaliable but not currently for sale.
We dont have enough silver to maintain this technology.
We do but it will not be cheep. PSLV and unalocated silver in the comex would cover it. And the batteries would last a long time and the silver is recoverable, like the lead in today's regular batteries.
We would have to start recycling all silver tech. Im not a fan of non physical silver. That's just me though . If you cant hold it, you dont own it.
True paper silver is no good for batteries.....
Kek
How long before the jackals start sawzalling your battery out?
Catalytic converters? Pfft... platinum is SO 2015...
u/#hopium
You need the deep dive version of the new technology. Shouldn't be hard to Google.
Samsung has a bit more at risk than these two Ponzi's
This is Samsung, not some fly by night company.
I would bet a lot of money they built and tested them extensively already.
You could use these in an off-grid setup to power a house/farm too. A lot safer and more durable than LI.

In 1959 the Austin Mini was getting 50 mpg.
Jusayin... 🤓
Tiny car with tiny engine. Built for tiny streets.
My father claimed his new 1950 Ford Sedan got 20 on the highway with a 3 on the tree and electric overdrive rear end. When he kept it well tuned up. And it was stamped out on Sherman tank stamps with nearly the same metal .
We didn't get that with our 67 Corvair.
You survived.
It was a nice driving car, except the front end was pretty lite, I learned to drive on it in the 80's.
and the back end?
Had a flat 6 cylinder engine,in the back air cooled IIRC

More like hand them a kilo and get a 5 grand discount.....

exactly.
How about charging them, i should imagine the chargers would cost quite a bit as well, and that using another charger on these could be dangerous.
Charging is pretty simple, not really that high tech.
can't wait to retro an old F100 and install a speaker just behind the muffler extension blaring engine noises.
Keep the old engine where it is,and run both once in awhile.

They are cheeper in the sense that they will last much longer. And give better performance and safety i guess.
And burst into flames without warning?. A fire that can only be put out by 500. Lbs of unobtanium gas? Can't wait.
That's the other beauty of silver,it doesn't bust into flames at all. It's much safer.
