Well my thought a few days ago since he does not seem to be focused/concerned with congress not funding DHS at this time, was is there a way to eliminate DHS and have something similar but not controlled through congress. Technically it is in fact a step down, not in position but title. She was a cabinet secretary, now she's a special envoy. She was #18 in the order of Presidential Succession (last of the Cabinet Secretaries) but at least she was on it.
I think it will be a good thing, but right now the details are few and far between. Supposedly she will attend the Shield of the Americas summit in Florida this weekend, and more will be announced about her role and responsibilities.
I'm happy for her - this looks like a great role tailor-made for her given all she has done with the border, cartels, and dealing with various international leaders. Hopefully it is.
