The choppers were on the rescue mission for the pilot that was extracted. The choppers took some hits but made it back. Several on the choppers were wounded and are being treated. The Warthog went down in the Gulf and the pilot was rescued. Warthogs are a pretty tough aircraft to bring down - not impossible, but also not easy. So the only aircraft that went down inside Iran was the F15, but I still have not heard any confirmed reason for the plane going down. You cannot believe Iranian reports that the mainstream uses.

In my opinion Iran was successful using manpads. There was video 2 days ago if a plane dodging a missile fired by a manpad. I assume that's what took down the A-10. I would be shocked that and F15E was flying low enough for a manpad to reach it but it's totally possible. Their anti aircraft systems are gone. This is what allowed the A-10 to even come in the theater.
