The Justine Department says they have reviewed over 3 million documents on the Big 4 Meat Packers in America
They have found anti-trust practices. The Big 4 have been working together, sharing information and skyrocketing prices
“This week, we will be announcing an historic settlement that will directly affect the prices of proteins like chicken, pork, and Turkey”
“This business model allows competitors to exchange competitively sensitive information on every aspect of the protein industry and has raised the prices on chicken raised, the prices on pork, and raised the prices on Turkey.
The department is also working closely with, with Secretary Rawlins and the Department of Agriculture”
They’re also looking for more evidence
“I wanna remind everyone and anyone in the industry that if you have information about antitrust crimes, about price fixing, bid rigging, market allocation, or even procurement fraud, the Department of Justice wants to hear from you through our Whistleblower Rewards program”
California is run by monopolies. This is why everything keeps getting more and more expensive. Bring back the small farmers
Young guy showed up on my door telling me about a businessodel he was running with no debt on a family ranch about 50 miles away from my suburb. He wanted buyers to invest in what sounded like 75% of the cost of a cow & I would get half the cow. If I picked it up myself & took it to the butcher I could save some cash, and if I could remember how to butcher it myself I could get some pretty cheap beef.
We will see if they come back in the Fall. I wanted s pick up address so I could see the operation before handing over about $500. Kid was saying they run solar so they know their costs & staggered panels so they rotate about 10% out per year. They claimed to own enough water shares to keep tnigs running. Any excess beef they raise he keeps & sells at auction.
If he was telling the truth and has generational land free and clear in a trust, I can see this bring a good business model for him.
It surely sounds like collusion is the name and the game. Sad for us but the criminals make tons of money! And by criminals-the ones colluding- for prices to be affected.
But not beef? That’s the price that’s by far the highest. I know, you’re just reporting what the announced. I’m paying more for chicken now since I started having a bad reaction to the kind that doesn’t say it’s air chilled. So I’d be happy to pay a bit less for that too.
Smithfields undercut thousands of pork farmers by bringing their prices to 9¢ a lb...and the whisky maker that was supplying a major cattleranch with a by product that the cattle was fed for over 45yr, came to a halt over night as that whisky maker decided to sell elsewhere, not to cattle ranchers! Corporate terrorism...like WALMART
MMTWO are you from the deep south like I am. That is the only place where people use the term "fixing to" instead of "about to" is in the deep south southern states. I'm guessing you grew up in Texas like I did. Oh, and I'm "fixing to" go eat lunch now.
Not picking on you, just wondering if you are from Texas too.
It looks like the democrats food price strategy for the midterms is about to come crashing down.
But, but, but, EGG PRICES!!!!
Now do oil and gas, Microsoft and Apple.

Nice, I hope it works out.I've seen something like that sometime ago. I think a family member was telling me about it.

I'll come back to this thread in 90 days to see if prices are lower.
Fair enough handshake. Feel free to make a post about it. I'd seriously like to see results as well.

I won't hold my breath but hopefully you keep your word.
mmmm, the justine dept.....
Almost sounds Canadian.
They busted Amazon for doing the same thing the other week.
How much you wanna bet other major companies are also doing it.
They all are. Monopolies are illegal so they just collude to all make more money knowing people have to pay it.
This person NAILED IT!
Was thinking the same thing.
Next do gas... its back to Biden prices again. Just paid $4.19 at a gas station I used to pay $1.86 in Trump's first term.
Follow up today... $4.47 same gas station....
Good. Pre COVID, top sirloin from Costco was around $4.50. Now it's like $10.50. Absolutely insane.

youins tawk phuunny, lookovair at bubba hez yusles aza hyntits ona worthawg.lol
That's funny. Not Texas but North Ga.. Where we have all four seasons in a week.Lol. Dixie weather.
I hope so. I'm in Texas and I saw a gas station with gas over $4 for the very first time.
I recall it topped out here at $3.99 under Obama, but to be fair, $3.99 in 2010 is about $6.09 now.
EDIT: Whoops, I misread the title as "most prices," not "meat prices." My mistake. My point still stands, though, so I'm leaving it.
It happens,kEk.
Is the "settlement" in any way shape or form more than they made from this grift to begin with? Why is jail never on the table?
Fixin. Just yanking your chain.
Now do dairy. Majority owned by large cooperatives that screw over the dairymen and serve the retailers.
Chicken pork and turkey? Damn it, I want affordable steak prices
I was wrong about this guy.
