What also strikes me as counterintuitive is AI is incapable of buying the products and services companies offer. Companies might see a short term bump in profits, but long term aren’t they eroding the buying power of the markets they serve? AIs could buy products or services. They could get money by working for humans or trading stocks/crypto. Many things aren't worth buying, but especially for a bodyless AI.

AI models are codified socialism and cultural hegemony. They are incapable of objective prediction because they were trained on censored corpora. Remember all the people getting censored and deplatformed? AI knows little of what they maybe have written, only the reddit comments saying it was hateful or debunked. Having any conversation with AI is having a conversation with a socialist.
a change is being forced upon the people that we do not want. I think will be proven destructive on society. example: my daughter , a college professor teaches writing classes. hates her job now because students are using AI, (which is not allowed) causing her work load to be unbearable. problem is her classes also teach students "critical thinking skills". this is our future, a generation learning to be nonfunctional.
also it is creeping into day to day lives. doing internet searches now brings up a box explaining what they want you to see on what you are searching. instead of you choosing what response you want to look into. just one example.

Use something besides Google for searching. When I want straight results, I use Yandex. It gives me results just as I ask for in my searches. Google will give crap results, when I know the answers exist on pages I've already read in the past.
why do you assume I use google ? have not used google for years.
Because Google is the search engine that puts an AI answer at the top of search results every time. Many of the other search engines are actually front ends that get their results from Google. Yandex is independent of all that.
Two things I don’t like. Cameras everywhere. I know they catch bad people, but they also watch and keep track of good people. AI. AI is going to dramatically change our lives, for the worse. We aren’t going to have to worry about Gates and Fauci killing off most of the population, we will do it ourselves.

AI is a tool that enhances productivity of any person in almost any field if they know how to wield the tool. Enhanced productivity = Ability to access wealth.
Came here to say exactly this - it has increased my productivity at least 10x, if not 50x at times. Anyone can run it on their phone now - there are very capable FREE MODELS. While some 'convenient' and 'smarter' options are available for those who can afford $20/mo - 80%+ of the functionality is available to everyone with a phone right now.
The AI fear-porn is getting tiresome. It is here to stay, and yes, the equivalent of the next industrial revolution. The country that leads it, will lead the world in productivity and innovation. Same goes for the anti-Data Center doomers.

Every technological innovation creates a big group of people who are scared of it. This is healthy fear. But right now this healthy fear is being turned into a weapon against some MAGA, because the coming AI growth is what will fuel America's freedom and the Great Awakening.
The only way to outrun the bankers is through technological innovations and real economic prosperity. There is simply no other way.
BTW, I would love to have a weekly "tech corner" to discuss how people are using LLMs and to share tips and tricks. I really want more Anons to develop a better understanding of these technologies and not fall for propaganda.

It depends on the AI. We have an AI on our medical coding encoder and it sucks. It picks up a lot of diagnosis and combines them with other words in the same paragraph to make a combination code. Normally, we have combo codes but only in certain circumstances. I'm guessing the problem with ours is who wrote or programmed it. At this rate, we'll be using humans in medical coding for the foreseeable future. 🤣
Personally, using AI for critical areas should be avoided, unless it has been thoroughly integration-tested under all situations at the same level as any other software in that domain.
Just to give an idea, a medical equipment software. would have undergone all kinds of extreme testing to be certified for medical use. But when a company comes and implements an AI tool, the combined use of AI with that specific medical usecase would not have been undergone even a fraction of the testing.
Yep,using humans in medical coding is the smart thing to do for a while.
AI could be argued within the same field as gun rights as far as that goes. (That could get some people riled up kek)
I'm honestly pretty indifferent on the topic. I tend to take the side of your statement but I'm aware of the concerns others have voiced. Exactly the feedback I had hoped for when making this post.

problem is, it is used very much by those too lazy to do any real work. creating a generation of non skilled that have no critical thinking ability. they have no forethought for anything new. no reason to think when they can just 'plug in'?
where will the innovators come from ?
This is the same with every technology. When Internet originally became thing late 90s, most people started using it for fun. Mostly bulletin boards, ICQs and stuff.
Yet there were those who decided to do serious stuff and build tech and companies.
This is the story of Mankind. Roughly 10% of people will innovate. 50% of people will contribute if given specific goals. The rest simply follow. Thats just the way we are. Thats why Jesus was called Good Shepherd. People being "sheep" by itself is not the problem, its whom they decide to follow.
Hoepfully after the Great Awakening, the 10% who innovate will always keep in mind the lessons from this period and ensure that every innovation is done with the freedom of mankind in mind. The remaining 90% also should remember not to blindly follow, but question when choices are made that are wrong.

It's a nice pithy aphorism. Swap out skill for knowledge, and it's more accurate.
AI typically replaces lawyers and doctors, so-called knowledge workers. The good ones are also skilled, but the bad ones only have sequestered knowledge and those are the ones that can be swapped out without consequence to those who need the service. Skill involves someone proficient at doing the work, not just knowing stuff. Skill's probably coming, but not there yet.

I think it might be a way for the wealthy to access skill without the skilled people even needing to be around.
This is how they will increase government dependency... they make you redundant because AI takes your job, then you can't get more work, because nobody will hire you - for anything.
Now what do we do? We ask daddy government to take care of us, of course. Well, that's what they want anyway.
Ironically, I have been asking AI, financial planning related questions regarding retirement, Social Security, etc., and I’ve used several different ones for comparison, and ironically, it gives me some pretty sound advice that doesn’t cost me anything from a financial planner. Whether we like it or not AI is here to stay, but you just need to use your judgement wisely.
