Yeah, but an HOA doesn't mean you agree to constant petty harassment.
Some HOAs get along just fine with the people there. Without knowing the personalities and the actual HOA agreement, it's hard to judge. He could be a horrible neighbor. Leaving eggs to rot in your neighbors yard isn't cool. But his home doesn't look like an eyesore to me, and the video is pretty funny.
I've been living in my area for forty years and depending on how many biddies sit on the board -- that determines how much trouble you'll have in any given year. When the development was first created we had nutjobs walking around with rulers measuring the size of shrubs. As the decades passed it became sane -- until last year when the board hired some eager beaver "manager". Within a week this idiot went driving around writing up people for things that had been done for decades that were technicalities that nobody ever paid attention to. The next HOA meeting had practically everyone in the neighborhood show up calling for this eager beaver's head.
So I suppose you need a HOA so people don't paint their garage door in purple and lime green stripes. But you don't need people measuring shrubs with rulers or trying to fine you because you've paid extra to have your garbage picked up an additional day and some newbie eager beaver doesn't realize you can have this done.
Live and let live as long as it doesn't get purple and lime green stripes!
Certain people (usually women and blacks) simply cannot handle being given an iota of authority, and immediately go full Caligula. People rightly tell them to fuck off, which normally drives them into a deeper tard-spiral where they start “demanding” respect (thereby all but guaranteeing they’ll never get it).
Just treat others as you yourself would wish to be treated. Simple.
Its the God complex. A lot of cops have this. They feel like they are such a high authority that everything they say must be aknowledged and followed. Its sick. Some people should never have authority of any kind, They couldn't even raise children properly.
No one ever “needs” an HOA. If I want stripes on my garage door, I thought I lived in America? I can’t do that to a house I own? Or don’t own, I make the payments. Doesn’t matter. If a person knowingly purchases a home within a HOA, don’t complain about when stuff goes bad. No one forced your signature on that piece of paper. You knew the risks. For the rest of us, live free.
It depends. There are areas where the houses are falling apart so stripes on the garage would not be noticed (or might even be.considered a cosmetic improvement if the door had previously been a mess of peeling paint).
However, there are such things as "property values" and a garage door with purple and lime green stripes would affect the resale value of homes in a well kept area. And if the homes are considered luxury homes -- certainly you have to have some rules for people with absolutely no taste.
I don't approve of biddies getting goofy and irritating their neighbors with unnecessary rules. Forty years ago, the biddies in the "walking club" (who traipsed around the neighborhood every morning presumably to exercise) noticed one homeowner had a satellite dish hidden from view by shrubbery. (These dishes were relatively new and very few people had them at the time). Personally -- I believed this walking club trespassed on this person's property because this dish was not visible from the street. Still, the biddies took him to court and.he lost his dish. I personally felt if it couldn't be.seen it wasn't a problem but I am more flexible.
I would, however, be the first person to complain if someone were to do something outrageous.
Property values are a real thing to consider and although I have no intention of selling my home anytime soon -- I would not like to obtain less value for my property because my neighbor had a purple and lime green striped garage door!
I don't think an HOA can coerce you into giving up your Constitutionally stated and protected rights.
If HOA language is in contrast to the Constitution of the US, the HOA will need to change its policies to be compliant with the Constitution of the US.
This guy turned every single text his HOA president sent him into a song.
Over the past year and a half, she’s been texting him nonstop about fines, videos he’s posting, eggs in the yard, signs on his lawn, his driveway, and even threatening to put a lien on his house. So instead of arguing with her, he had AI turn all her messages into a full song.
It’s honestly one of the most creative ways I’ve seen someone get back at an over-the-top HOA.
Be honest… would you turn your HOA president’s texts into a song?
Where there is laughter, there is hope. Give up your last breath if you must, but never give up your sense of humor.
Even then, I have a plan. Flash forward to my deathbed, with only a matter of breaths to go. I summon whoever is at my bedside to lean down to my lips;---
"I know the secret of life," I whisper.
"What! What is it?"
"If I told you (gasp)...it wouldn't be a secret" expire
I’ve never lived with an HOA (my neighborhood has covenants that restrict the obvious stuff, like heights, and the trashy stuff, like boats and RVs parked in the front yard - it works well, combined with high prices that keep things decent), but I can see both the purpose of HOAs, and have certainly seen enough horror stories of them being tyrannically abused. So I can go both ways in this issue.
But I believe every HOA should follow this one guideline:
NEVER ELECT ANYONE WHO WANTS THE JOB AS PRESIDENT
You definitely don’t want anyone with nothing better to do than harass their neighbors over trifles; just someone who will put their foot down when they’ll absolutely compelled to by something egregious.
Once an HOA karen doesn't like you, you get harassed like crazy. My parents had rotweilers when they lived in a condo with an HOA and these rotweilers (2, but not at the same time. One died they got one of her descendants from the breeders) were very friendly. Rotweilers aren't pit bulls, they don't go nuts for no reason, but they are intimidating to people unfamiliar with the specific dog or the breed.
The neighbors all knew the dogs and were friendly with them (I saw it, I was there, I knew these neighbors well because I grew up there as a teenager), but the HOA president was a little old lady that watched people thru the window because she had nothing else to do with her life at her age and stage than to stare at people, judging them thru the window.
And she saw the dog and called it a menace and started a harassment campaign against my parents and their dog. My parents are strict catholics, very kind people, very helpful generous people, and their dog was raised with love from a puppy and I would routinely 'rassle' with these rotweilers. They were big babies, but HOA karen wasn't even willing to work with my parents.
All she had to do was say "some of our neighbors are scared of your dog (translation: HER, the HOA karen) so be sure to keep interactions to a minimum, keep your dog on a leash and use the rear sidewalk to access the walking paths" (our neighborhood had extenisve (miles) greenway).
But instead she started a whisper campaign and acted like a weaselly old karen fuck
The good news is, she's 99.999% likely to be dead by now., She was old 30 yrs ago
This is undoubtedly one of the best ways to deal with an HOA "president" screeching at you like a feral Karen on crack.
Part of me is like F that HOA but another part of me is like you definitely knew there was an hoa when you bought your house

Kids do stuff like that. Remember the things you did as a kid, be honest.
You’re smiling now aren’t you 😆
😏
Ah....yes and no.

It just comes down to people.
Certain people (usually women and blacks) simply cannot handle being given an iota of authority, and immediately go full Caligula. "usually women and blacks". So true on so many levels.

You know there is an HOA but you are nevee certain wherher there is a powee-tripping Karen as its president until you encounter one

HOA's should be outlawed, just one more layer of government and control that we do not need.
This was absolutely beautiful 😍

Jeremiah for President!

It just takes one person with a meaningless life to ruin everything. The HOA seems to be a mini version of government in general.
Both seem to attract the dregs of society, useless people who are offered power for once in their lives.
For some, they can’t control their ego’s, the urge to control and dictate is too much. These people belong nowhere near a decision making role.
I wonder why he doesn’t sue this woman for harassment?
Omg I'm so glad I watched that. Can't stop smiling!🐸
Ho-ass!
This is EXACTLY how you deal with HOA assholes. Petite tyrants, they are.
I'd vote for him 😂
