If you mean UK, this is true. I lived there at that time. And now it's still mostly safe here in Greece. My friend never locks his house or his car. I lock mine if I'm not nearby because now there are foreign workers here and opportunistic Romas. And immigrants coming from Libya by the boat load every day.
We have next to zero street crime,for most of America, its hard to rob people driving in their cars. Public transportation is retarded in high crime areas.

It’s not strictly a ‘Muh 2nd Amendment’ thing. You can see the same shit in some places in Europe still. It’s a ‘There’s no ethnic/cultural diversity’ thing. With a dash of Community Unity/Spirit that is increasingly rarer these days.
Due to both the increasing diversity and the fact increasingly fewer people put down roots anywhere or put in the effort of building a community. As people increasingly value other priorities and pursuits. Such as chasing work and promotions as one example. Which in today’s day and age. Often involves needing to be willing to relocate.

Yup, growing up we left our doors unlocked. I'm not sure we even had keys for the outside doors.
I live in a nice neighborhood and in a safe community NE of Houston, Tx... and we keep the front and back doors locked and all windows locked whether at home or away. Alarm system is active every night and any time we're away.
It's smarter to keep it that way. Nobody is fearful and everyone here at the house knows how to shoot, some having better skill and patience than others. Either way, the door locking is to keep honest people honest... and anyone who breaks in will have a very bad day.
