This has happened to me a few times. My caller id even says it's my bank.... kinda freaky. Fortunately, I've read enough of these scams like you've posted to be on the alert for any of it. Your advice to hang up and call the number on the back of your card is solid.
What gives me comfort is knowing we're not alone. And I don't just mean this in the present time. If you look back, they've been dealing with this nonsense since recorded history (and probably before), even dating back as far as Aristotle. A lot of the struggles we experience are not new. It's new to us but mankind has been through it in some form or fashion over the millennia. I'll leave you with this quote from Mark Twain, “If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed.”
Hunter, "Honest Honor, there I was, just out for my morning jog when a homeless stripper ran out of the bushes and shoved a crack pipe in my mouth. A bag of crack in my pocket and a pistol in my waistband...."
Judge, "That's terrible. You poor thang."
You're right. I recently remember watching a video of the CIA's "Director of Disguise" (she's now retired) or some such title. She was showing off the 5 minute mask and dicussing it. At the end of the video she says, "The fact that I'm allowed to even talk to you about this is exciting. It means they are well beyond this level now. I can only imagine what they've come up with since I left."
It's clearly AI generated
