As an Illinois resident, I completely get why we’re the number 2 state for net loss. This place is a dumpster fire, and I don’t even live anywhere near Shitcago. I find myself saying, “at least I’m not in California” a lot just to cope.
My husband is getting a leadless pacemaker. Apparently, they don’t have the ability to control the upper pace limit; they only stop the pulse from getting too low. That will be interesting for him, because his heart rate doesn’t get up to a normal pace when he works out. When they did the treadmill stress test, they could only get him up to 75 bpm after 7 minutes of pretty intense cardio. However, they decided to go with the leadless pacemaker because he does a lot of weightlifting and relies heavily on it for mental health, and they’re worried that he would break the leads on a normal pacemaker doing some of the different types of movements. His heart rate got as low as 21 bpm when wearing a Holter monitor, so I think they’re more worried about that. He already experiences the sudden drop in heart rate when he works out. I’ve watched it plummet from 80s to 40s in a matter of a couple of seconds while he was on a stationary bike. He usually just takes a few minutes of rest for it to normalize and is fine after that.
His was detected by accident during a routine physical. An abnormal heartbeat detected during the physical led to EKG which led to stress test and other tests which led to diagnosis. He actually doesn’t have any symptoms (other than fatigue he’d previously written off that he’s now thinking might be due to this) which they attribute to him being very athletic; I think that’s why they were comfortable making him wait. We have instructions to go to the ER if he starts getting faint, having pains, etc.
My husband is one of the newbies. Vaxxed, mid-40s, and is scheduled for a pacemaker next month due to 3rd degree atrioventricular block. Of course, I can’t prove it was the vaxx, but the cardiologist and electrophysiologist said this issue is insanely rare for his age.
My work still sends out case emails every day, and we’re currently work remote because we have a 3% positivity rating. Our union has pushed everyone to test and report so we can keep working from home. Very liberal organization in a blue state. It’ll never end for some of these people.
I’ve been going through something similar. I almost had to drive 40 minutes one way out of town for my test this week before finding a last minute cancellation in my city. My office has gone full remote again starting next week due to the “surge,” but the vaccine free still have to test and report. Glad I’m leaving this job soon!
They make us get tested on our own time and money, and it’s whatever the pharmacies are still using; the last appointment I booked said it was “PCR/NAAT.” They won’t allow us to use at home tests or rapid tests, but the test has to be taken within 72 hours of the start of my work week. It’s been especially fun right now seeking out these appointments to get tested since everyone with a sniffle is trying to get tested right now, so I’ve had to book appointments a week out just to guarantee I can go to work.
I’m the solo vaccine free worker in my department at my state government job. I’m required to test weekly which has had the upside of proving I’m not the source of all of my vaccinated coworkers popping positive around me. Still, I’m in the process of moving on to a job with no testing and more money. Screw them.
We have to wear masks at my office anywhere outside of our desk area. I swear the fecal matter smells in the restroom actually get trapped and amplified in my mask anytime I need to go in there. I can’t help but think of that South Park zip lining episode every time this happens. Clip for reference: https://youtu.be/pMetuNf_xOg
I was on a team meeting this morning; I work at a pretty liberal organization. I was surprised when one of my coworkers announced that her uncle got the booster and can now only see shades of green. That’s a new one for my bingo card.
Woman here. It took me until I was 34 to wake up. I’m grateful it happened at all, but it was a little late in the game. Strangely, the only other unvaccinated person I know is also female, and both of our husbands went against our advice and got vaccinated, so I guess we’re anomalies by the stats you presented.
