I was only responding to your reflexive contempt for Shakespeare and the Western canon, and your suggestion that commies teach the humanities to keep people dumb. No, commies have demoralized the West by systematically trashing the humanities and cultural heroes like Shakespeare in a coordinated campaign since the 1960s. I don’t disagree at all with your premise about financial literacy and practical skill sets for our children. But the public schools need to be completely overhauled, and we’re not going to have any sort of Great Awakening by trashing the cultural heritage of the West. Rather than diminishing our great cultural achievements, which include Shakespeare, we need to champion those things, because those artifacts ARE the whole substance of Western culture. Our kids need to supplement useful real world training with actual substantive education about their heritage. And Shakespeare is great because he is the best writer in the English language, and commies have never gotten over the fact that Africa and the Islamic barbarians have nothing to compare to the richness and complexity of our great dramatists, and drama itself is part of the West’s legacy. Don’t diminish those things. If you want to understand the poor quality of the shallow “girl boss” goyslop that the commies in the entertainment industry and modern Hollywood are trying to feed us, you need to know what quality looks like. Well, the answer is Shakespeare. His work still shimmers with vitality and has never stopped inspiring artists and enriching the Western soul for 400 years! Exactly right. As if financial literacy is more important than learning Shakespeare or literature and art more broadly. Part of our modern predicament is the absolute illiteracy of our kids with regard to the actual substance of their Western heritage, and teaching financial literacy is important as a personal skill set, but it is not going to make our children more civic-minded or better equipped to defend their culture from the philistines of the left. And when a “conservative” can’t articulate a reason to appreciate Shakespeare and the other great poets of the English language, the culture war is already lost.
