I'm real interested because I think a member of my family may have it.
My primary ordered it because I was having lots of non-season allergic symptoms. It was a low positive result. That test and other results got me bounced to an immunologist who ordered more tests and a few more as results were coming back abnormal.
The only symptom I’ve noticed is itching hours after eating red meat. I mean wake up during the night itching all over. A couple Allegra helps. I can’t afford to buy much meat so avoidance hasn’t been a problem. Your family member needs to ask his/her primary to order the blood test for Alpha Gal to know for sure.
Last year, my family member suddenly developed terrible stomach pain that lasted for 10 hours causing her to be in the fetal position and weeping. She developed a low grade fever, vomiting, sweating, hives all over, and strange migrating facial swelling.
Note: last week when reading about the Alpha Gal condition I decided to look up the symptoms that come with it. I was shocked at how it matched her symptoms that she experience last year. Read on:
She went to the ER where they did a number of tests that did not answer the question. They sent her home with an antibiotic.
Over the next 5 days, she developed high fever, the shakes, more vomiting and a feeling of impending doom. She went back and they admitted her to the hospital.
While there, her blood pressure dropped, her oxygen dropped, her heart rate increased and she felt like she was dying. More tests and IV fluids and antibiotics were given. They didn't know what it was. Swollen lymph nodes in various places pointed to possibly an infection or Lymphoma! They sent her home and told her to 'follow up with your primary care'.
Soon, full body hives (terribly itchy) popped out after eating pretty much anything. They got especially bad in the middle of the night. She felt terribly unwell and was eating hardly anything. Then she got facial swelling with swollen lips or swollen eyes and even lumps on her cheeks!
Appts with every kind of specialist was made. Every kind of test was done. MRIs, CT scans, Ultrasounds, X-rays, colonoscopy, endoscopy, skin tests, blood tests, allergy tests, thermal imaging scans, etc.
One test showed her gall bladder was only operating at 1/4 capacity, releasing very little bile which means she wasn't getting what she needed to digest her food properly. Why was this happening? Doctors had no real explanation.
Their advice was to remove the gallbladder. When asked if this would stop the stomach pains and hives all over, they said they didn't know.
No one had any idea what was causing the facial swelling and hives all over. So she was sent home to live in misery. This went on for 10 months.
After trying numerous non-surgical remedies, it was found through trial and error that taking HCL Betaine (a synthetic stomach acid you can order online without a prescription) increased her available stomach acid which in turn increased her gall bladder response. It miraculously cured her terrible stomach pains.
Every food that caused her terrific stomach pain, now cause her no issue as long as she takes the HCL Betaine first thing in the morning and before bed at night!
Regarding her fever, swollen face and itchy hives that covered her every day, she ended up buying a bunch of Ivermectin horse paste and covered all available skin every day for at least a week (taking some orally too) and all of the hives and facial swelling she'd had for over 10 months, went away!
So, it turns out that if your stomach acid production is reduced by taking ant-acids or medicine for GERD, or from some unknown cause (virus, tick bite, parasite?) then your gall bladder's bile production will also be too low.
With inadequate digestive juices, foods you used to be able to eat just fine now wreak havoc on your body.
And, it turns out that your stomach is one of your body's defense mechanisms. And if you unknowingly ingest parasites or other bacteria via your food, your stomach acid should destroy it. If you don't produce enough, those invaders will be able to get a foothold in your body.
So, in conclusion, when she ramped up the stomach acid, then her gall bladder released more bile. Foods she reacted badly to before, now don't bother her because she has the digestive juices to get the food broken down properly. And, the ivermectin cured all of her chronic itching hives which were life destroying.
Since her symptoms were so close to Alpha Gal symptoms and they claim there is no cure, I thought her experience would be worth sharing and possibly be worth trying in your case.

I just realized/thought that perhaps it's not ticks biting people that is the plan, but to infect the cattle with whatever this is (virus?) that is then transmissible to people who eat the meat from those cattle. This would explain why the reports of ticks being released on cattle ranches makes sense. If the goal was to have more people infected by the ticks themselves, they would be spread across more populated areas. (that's my two cents of thought for the day :) )
