Pelosi really is quite smart (I hate to say it!) and she hasn't been in politics for as long as she has without knowing when its time to pivot. By any standard this is a huge pivot. I find it interesting (excerpt from archived link in magpie17 comment) that Biden and Harris are frequently near one another physically when the protocol this article discusses should have positions in line of succession 'remain physically separated...' Either this pandemic is a nothing burger or, this administration isn't subject to the protections afforded by these contingency plans.

Two things to comment on:

Adding something to your paycheck counts as income to you and as a payroll deduction for an employer. So, Federal and State taxes and employee's Social Security contribution, etc., will be deducted. Walmart then gets to deduct this 'incentive' as payroll against earnings. So, 'cash' incentive is a bit of a misnomer.

The following quote is from the same announcement... and well, I'll just let that sink in for anyone that read that far into the bulletin.
