The last time I was this tense was when I was fighting a fire that came close to getting out of control when I was in the Navy. We eventually brought it under control, but I still remember the hissing sound that fire made. It was a billion degrees but I'll tell you what, my blood turned cold. Very few times in my life have I experienced an insane tightening of my skin to the point where I felt I was going to jump out of it. This is one of those times.

That's just the thing - he can and likely will win whether he is here or at a cabana on Mars.

This isn't hitting me like I thought it would. I have opined before about how I used to be pretty good at chess. Had I stayed with it, eventually I would have become a grandmaster, although by no means am I comparing myself to the greats - Kasparov, Karlsson, Fischer et alii - I just made it to master. The point being is this...if I ever were to play President Trump, I would be scared shitless. People have no earthly idea what a massive fucking mistake was just made. I get this funny feeling that he's just getting started. I'm excited in a way, but apprehensive as well. I am not going to pray as I don't believe in prayer, but I will remain alert, more so than I have ever been in my sixty years on this planet. Holy cow.

That's exactly the type of notion that turned me away from formal, organized religion [Catholicism]. As a result, there are some people I have encountered who relay the "Christ loves you, Christ saves you" message and when I disagree or decline, that's the last I hear from them. That's fine, it's on them and not me. The big problem I have with this subject matter is that there are many who presume to speak for Jesus and presume to speak for God. We interpret what they mean, but that's all we can do.

Careful. Only Jesus Christ himself is innocent. All mankind is born sinful and guilty deserving of hell.

That is your interpretation. Others may agree with you. My older brother went to hell and back during two tours in Vietnam found Christ when he came back after seeing what he saw. Hey, it worked for him. He told me the same thing about how there was hate and evil in my heart when I was born. I do not and will not ever believe that, and it is not your responsibility or anyone else's to change my mind. He has since moved on, so he ended up somewhere and I hope it turns out how he thought it would. I will never know, and don't really care to.

I'll take your comment as a gesture of sarcasm and not an attempt to patronize. Also, I'm not in the third grade. I am old enough to remember what it was like before we had these particular social problems and was making a comment to the effect that the social fabric around us is disintegrating at an alarming rate.

Every time I read one of these stories, I am reminded of Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side song. Remember that one? It was somewhat controversial when it first came out, but now is campy by today's standards.

I looked for Uranus the other night. Don't get too excited because you can barely see an aqua speck even through high power binoculars.

I'm actually becoming numb to them. Seems like nothing has much of a shock factor anymore. I know that's a heartless statement, but these days are strange days indeed. As was said once a long time ago, "these are the times that try mens souls."

I'm 60 and can still knock the piss out of a golf ball, do our property [1.5 acres] with a mower, and am doing fine...but not at Trump's level. I think a lot of it is mind over matter. That guy amazes me every time I see him or watch one of his rallies. Interesting thing, I read somewhere that his philosophy on exercise is that he doesn't do a lot of it, that the body has tremendous amounts of energy in reserve and it is best to use it wisely.

Can't get it either. Trilight in eastern Tennessee.

Nice to see someone mention the Patton reference. I firmly believe that George S. Patton is Donald Trump's biological father.

What's even more amazing is that this is right out in front of God and everyone, and few people mention it or seem to care.

Yeah, that would work, I guess. Worth a shot. I tried to find Pepe wearing a dixie cup white hat but didn't have much luck. Getting an avatar would be cool but it is not that important. I served in the Navy as an enlisted back in the '80s and was just wondering.

That would be great, but honestly I have no idea how to do that.
