Thanks. I have built quite an eclectic mix, from Bach and Handel to Foster the People, and just about everything in between across many genres. I'm a little light in the jazz department, but I can always listen to Diana Krall and Dave Brubeck and get in the mood. I do have something of a weakness for some of the one-hit wonders available on movies, i.e Who You Talkin' To Man [Ciscandra Nostalgia] from John Wick, Got a Feeling/Can't Let Go [Caught a Ghost] from Bosch, and Outlaw State of Mind [Chris Stapleton] from Hell or High Water. There are many others. I put it all on a USB stick and have it hooked to the car stereo in my Crown Vic [three amps, two subs, two 6x9's and two 6.5's] - thanks to my recently deceased mother-in-law and her inheritance :) There's nothing like driving to work, observing the eastern Tennessee sunrise, hitting the curves on a country road and cranking a Bach Organ Concerto - and then driving home after a day with high school teenagers and cranking Deep Purple's Lazy. Aaah yes, the power of music 😎😜

I am turning more and more to music to soothe the savage beast in these trying times, not that I wasn't listening before, I am just revisiting tunes and re-interpreting lyrics. Good way to pass the time, and a good way to draw parallels to what is going on today.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was wondering when we were going to start being flooded with reports like this. Every time you turn around, there' s another story about how the Great Awakening is a joke, Durham is a joke, the election was legitimate, Q is a psyop, blah blah blah. Geez Louise.

Listen to this when it is sung by the Naval Academy Midshipmen. Holy Cow it is moving.

No, but I can tell you trying to teach high schoolers Geometry is equivalent to pulling teeth - their teeth. What little hair I have left is hard to pull out, lol.

Heard a great tune going into work today from an album that didn't get a lot of attention when it was released, but personally I think it is the group's best work. From the album Notorious by Duran Duran, the track is Meet El Presidente. I think Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Andy Taylor and John Taylor hit it with this one. One of my favorite go to albums while times marches on.

I really don't fear anything anymore. When I was a firefighter, one fear I had is that there is a point when you're fighting a fire where if you take the wrong course of action, the fire begins to control you. One thing about these times is that fear has been replaced with a sense of uncertainty, not in the plan, but how I am going to react to those who have been deliberately ignorant because they can't put down their fucking phones. The anger level is palpable. Many people who don't or won't open their eyes are beginning to disgust me to a level that does not allow sympathy or compassion. Combine that with a level of fury when I think about all the lies that have been told to us. I have outlets to assuage this anger and am not going to go out and do something stupid, but I'll tell you what, part of me is going to gloat like a son of a bitch when these people get their just due.

Just checked TruthSocial. Looks like he is working at his golf club there, as of about fifteen minutes ago.

It's been 21 years. I still can't believe the towers could not withstand a plane flying into them with such force as to knock the entire building down. When I saw the video of the towers coming down, the first thought I had was "hey, that looks like what they do in Vegas when they destroy a casino with a controlled demolition." And yet, those who have similar thoughts and observations are called wing-nut conspiracy theorists. The whole thing was unbelievable and is still unbelievable, and a lot of Americans were duped.

That goes both ways. I actually play sharper without my queen, not that I would deliberately sacrifice her. Bobby Fischer did this in several occasions, and so did Garry Kasparov, among other grandmasters. Given the right circumstances, one can frustrate the piss out of opponents using the knight, the bishop, and strategically placed pawns, not to mention the rooks.

I occasionally teach chess to high schoolers. One of the first things I tell them is not to bring her majesty out too early, because there are opponents who rise to the challenge and then it turns into a witch hunt. I tell them to "develop your pieces." Have the pawns dictate the course of the game, then work from there. Look at some of Alexander Alekhine's games - he perfected what came to be known as the Alekhine Defense, which emphasized use of the knights. I see those who make the mistake of thinking their queen is invincible, until they make a stupid mistake and she is caught. Once taken, they are crushed. So, I get the queen references and enjoy conversing with those who understand them.

I am likely to catch some heat for this, but what the hell. I am white. I do not think I am superior to blacks. There are some great people who are / were black. I think the world of Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Denzel Washington [as far as I know he's a good guy], Ben Carson, and going way back, Scott Joplin - and forgive me for leaving out others. However, for the most part, I just don't trust them [having not met those I mentioned above, I am sure there are exceptions]. I just simply do not trust them. Most of the ones I have been around are loud, antagonistic, or have a chip on their shoulders. I am one of those "live and let live" types. As long as you don't threaten my family, my students or my country, you're fine until you lie to me. It's not that I haven't tried - I have, many times over the course of 59 years. My attitude now that I am in the autumn of my life is that a man is measured by the company he keeps, whether they're black, brown, red, white or blue. Saying that, I believe there are those who are crafted into a mentality that they are victims who cannot accept responsibility for their own actions and find it easy to blame others for their own problems. As soon as more people, including blacks, look in the mirror and shut the fuck up about how life is unfair and all the world is against them, the better off we will all be.

It sure felt good going to the range today. We have an older lady who is a dear friend and she lost her husband about two years ago. Since then she's been busy with her horses and her property, but we finally got her to look at handguns for her personal protection [although around where I live, anyone stupid enough to break into anyone's home won't live to tell about it]. Anyway, she found a couple of good models at Bass Pro Shops and will likely get a S&W easy racking pistol, 9mm. So, after that, we got to the range.

I had her try our guns - a Springfield Arms 9mm and a Ruger 9mm, just to get her used to it. She ended up doing pretty well after a couple of clips. I showed her how to hold it, stance, eyes to target, and she was very receptive. Nice to know that she's finally going to have something to keep by her bedside.

While my wife was working with her, I worked my S&W .40 cal, SDV40. Great gun to shoot. I also worked the Springfield 9mm, good little gun. Then, I broke the big dog out - Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter. Great motion, nice and smooth, respectable kick but not overpowering. Made for a productive Saturday. Highly recommend range time for anyone just to get that confident feeling that with a firearm, you've got a friend.

Someone still needs to explain to me why people don't see the old Biden with blue eyes and this Biden with dark brown eyes. Duh.

I tend to agree. Instead of reacting with scorn and disgust, my first thought was that this was planned and that no matter what they do, Trump's got 'em.

The further we get away from 9/11/2001, the worse it is going to get. The same thing could be said about the Kennedy assassination. These events were specifically conducted to achieve certain outcomes - Kennedy threatened to disband the CIA and pull us out of Vietnam, and 9/11 was an excuse to go to war. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that so many Americans fell for the explanations without really looking into what really happened. Just goes to show you that if you get ahead of the narrative you can pretty much get people to believe anything. We are now paying the price for that.
