I'm an RN (since 1977). When I worked on a med-surg floor in the 80's, a female pt was admitted for pain on her torso. She was worked up by the doctors but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. we nurses thought maybe she was there just for the pain injections. Turns out it was shingles but no one had heard of that disease before, including the doctors that were treating her. It was such a rare diagnosis! Now you hear of it everywhere
Back in the 70's when I was in HS and worked as a cashier part-time at a grocery store (when we had cash registers- no scanners- and had to know prices by heart!), food stamps could only be used for non taxed food items. So meat, produce, milk, eggs, etc were ok. But no junk food, candy, convenience foods, alcohol, cIgs,etc.
"lovely" Susan Glasser. LOL. So I had to look her up. Yuck
