My understanding is that the 30 million items were supporting documents and not actual returns, but reading that is why I decided to send a second copy of my return instead of calling them. It apparently worked - I got notice today from the bank that an automatic deposit of my return is scheduled in the next few days.

Crickets, so instead of contacting them (every agent has a different story and no documentation of any of it), I sent a copy of the original return with a memo on top. Crickets. Never considered it. The greatest pressure was the restrictions from the airlines, since we live far enough away from our loved ones that we must travel by plane to get there. Missed two family funerals as a result, but it never made me consider getting the jab. I was convinced it would be the death of me if I did. Turns out I was right.
There are several businesses that treated me this way (no physical disability, though - just possessing better information than them) during the COVID mess. I will never darken their doorways again. One of those businesses has already closed their doors, which I believe to be the ultimate justice.
