I picked up supper from there tonight. They have a special on Tuesdays of regular BBQ sandwiches for $2 each. Two of them fill me up. That's a cheap meal. They have ribs on sale tomorrow. I haven't tried those yet, but I might go tomorrow. We have to support local businesses.
I tried it in Nashville. It was barbecued meat that had been drowned in some kind of yucky sauce. It was definitely not eastern NC pork BBQ with a vinegar-based sauce (basically vinegar, red pepper, and various secret ingredients, depending on who's cooking). Go to Raleigh or most of the towns along Hwy. 70 east and try Smithfield's Chicken and Barbecue. Their pork BBQ is a standard recipe that you might like. Their fried chicken is good too.
