My brother did this. His kids are 14 and 15 now. They build amazing stuff! Cool cutting boards, bird houses. They even sell their stuff on etsy. They both love fishing so they make their own lures and sell them at bait shops.
The oldest said "I can't wait to get my own car so I can go fishing whenever I want".
DIY content creators (or, really apolitical content creators focused on teaching) are some of the best motivators. Definitely do both.
I went on a concrete YouTuber kick and found it cathartic, so I became interested in that.
Car cleaning and detailing? Cathartic, so now I realized I enjoy that.
Wood working and home improvement? See above.
It's not just those things; coding too.
Really, anything that you can use to nurture a skill is valuable and there are a lot of smaller YouTubers out there posting and talking about what they're doing and why they're doing it. Not necessary to cut off YouTube entirely, just try to steer them away from the actual propaganda
I have kids but they're probably a little older and mine are very active in sports and play outside a lot. Fortunately we have a really nice set up in our neighborhood with similar age kids.
We still watch movies and have Hulu which is probably only slightly better than netflix.
We try to limit their youtube time and stay pretty close to that because it can be trashy.
My kids are at an age where many of their friends have phones and watch tik tok. We have taken a hard stance on tik tok. My kids are fine with it thankfully.
Bro, hear me out.
Find totally "legal" ways to download: Avatar the Last Airbender, Gravity Falls, and Over the Garden Wall. Best kids shows ever. I still watch them as an adult cause they're so good.
Right? Downright embarrassing that everyone just read the title and didn't look at it's totally normal performance.
A real headline would be like when they split their DVD and streaming services and raised the price of both 50% per month. They saw their stock price go from $300 a share down to $60. This? Standard market beta moves.
It was hard to give up, but we did it last year, when they started with the BLM vigil. I have teenagers and they didn't like me canceling it one bit. I also had to give up Hulu and Disney Plus. Somehow they've survived and still seem happy. :)
I just couldn't keep paying for that stuff and feel good about it. Even so, I still see stuff come up in commercials with the "woke" agenda. There just seems to be no getting away from it, if you want to watch t.v.
I’ve e been trying to get rid of Netflix for a year, and this post was finally enough of what I needed. That and some creative comments posted throughout. So thank you friend!
Well, I know they show crap. But I still got to watch The Death of Stalin on Netflix and that is one of the funniest Dark Comedies I've ever watched. Watched it 10 times so far. my wife loves The Crown. I liked seeing Girls und Panzer..... so I still watch it but only a few things.
We quit netflix last year. Quit cable and over-the-air over 10 years ago. Never again will I watch programmed propaganda.
Set them a list of DIY YT videos to watch.
Better yet, get them interested in building stuff with their hands.

The butchering of HE-MAN was the last straw in the bucket for me. You don't get to fuck with people's childhood and get a free pass.
"Nah, it's totally a story all about He-Man! Not Teela, sheesh where are you getting this stuff?"
Old He-man wasn't super great, but at least they knew how to tell a story. She ra was actually better in the story telling department.
Cancelled NetCux 1 1/2 or so ago when they paid Barry and Micheal an immense amount to produce "entertainment"!
Hope they sink!
When they paid out millions to the a Obama’s for the trash they speak and with the Cuties, I would never subscribe.
We dropped it over a year ago when they came out with the pedo show cuties.
We’ve never once missed it
DVD's of older shows. Cut them off of the Wi-Fi, too much crap on the internet.

Hulu is definitely only slightly better than Netflix, but they didn't fund, create and market Cuties so there is that.
Get yourself a media server a load it up with old stuff.

I heard they might tank completely soon!
I read it in passing last week on about a bazillion things/sources I read. Is it legit? Who knows? But I think it could grow legs.
Drop it more

Wait 'til the rest of us drop it. Boom!!

I got rid of my netflix last year after I saw that show with a kid and a tranny. I dont miss it one bit.
Social justice wokeness? Check.
A lack of third party content and relying mostly on their in-house productions that have a lot of woke content? Check.
Cancelling the projects that people really like because the interest wasn't there right at release?
Check.
Raising the prices whilst using the other reasons as an excuse? Check.

We know what this means... they are going to double down
