When punk was punk. Not these RATM & Foo Fighter cucks that doing the bidding of the establishment.
RAMONES. Sheena, Rockaway Beach, Rocket to Russia. Zippy.
Heck yes!!
Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, circle Jerks, Sex Pistols, Minor Threat!!
Unfortunately, Jello Biafra is a big time sell-out leftie shill cuck .. Green Day is, as well (since they haven't been mentioned yet in this thread).
This is true of Jello, Rollins, etc etc. Whatever they served their purpose back in the day and never fully evolved…lol. Green Day and the like are modern pop punk so certainly more suspect. Hard to even call them punk but that’s coming from an old man punk fan that grew up on late 70’s - early 80’s shit. Gonna have to listen to some today I believe!
Yes, yes, yes, yes, & yes. I still have all of that on vinyl in a plastic milk crate lol. DK Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables on imported red vinyl is perhaps my most prized. But they are all special and rare now. The energy of pure adolescent angst and anti establishment. Good times back in the early 80’s flipping through the records at the record store, buying something new, then waiting until we got home to put it on the turntable to hear what we got!
Yep, I was all n that scene. Had a 7 inch pink Mohawk for a little bit. My friend was in a lesser known band called Phlegm that had a good following in the Maryland area. They put out at least one album that was really good. Wish I could find that one again, I’m always on the lookout for it.

C’mon really? How many people ever heard of Reagan Youth! I think you and I would hit it off at a party and annoy most around us lol. I bought my Reagan Youth album at Bleeker Bobs in Greenwich Village NYC way back in the day. No clue just saw the “cover” which looked like they made it at their dinner table with markers and a mimeograph. Instant classic. TSOL is still on the rotation for my wife and I…Revenge…great. The Damned were way ahead in a lot of ways for sure. Thanks for the links and for the post…what a diverse community we have! Even old school punks from the analog days!
Right? TSOL - Change Today? remains my favorite punk album. Just hard charging from beginning to end.
TSOL - Flowers By The Door was especially good.
First Reagan Youth Track I heard was “I’m In Love With Nancy Reagan” and it about made me laugh my head off at the time.
Awesome you can enjoy this stuff with your wife!!!
My husband and I were saying week or so ago that we were cool liberals in the 1970's and now we're cool again as Conservatives in 2021. Truly *never * thought this would happen.
Our children and their friends are Conservatives who love POTUS (the real one, Trump) and they think Liberals suck, lol.
1970s liberals were anti-war, thought big corporations doing evil around the world should be denounced by all, etc. Common sense stuff. Everyone was still thin back then. 7 tv channels, no internet so fewer distractions. People watched and trusted Walter Cronkite when he said the war was un-winnable. What a different time.
I miss the 70s when I was in high school and college and was 30 pounds lighter. Hardly anyone was over weight. And boy do I miss the music. And that's the way it is ...
Sure was a different time. We had 5 channels for a long time. Yes, we were thin, lol. I'm 5'4" and weighed maybe 105 and probably less. There was plenty of refined sugar yet people were thinner - a lot thinner. The big change came with high fructose corn syrup.
And glyphosate on the wheat and GMOs
And artificial sweeteners.
Sweet n Lo has been around since the 50's. My Mom and her friends always had the pink packets near their coffee pots. They kept their Tab diet drinks in the fridge. Mom was thin but she cheated. We had doctors as both back yard and side yard neighbors. The back yard doc used to give her these brown glass jars with 365 diet pills. She was on speed for most of our growing up years - really until I was in college.
Crazy! I started on Tab in college so I didn’t gain the dreaded “Freshman 15”. That’s when I started getting migraines. Suffered with them for years. Stopped drinking Diet Coke a couple decades later and my migraines went away. No coincidences!
Seen an airial shot of boardwalk Atlantic City in the seventies all thin I grew up on 70 graduated 1973 all my class pictures had thin people it's not that we didn't eat we just ran ran ran all day long drive around during summer now no kids
WE are the “counter-culture”
Sometimes people with that "edge" are fully aware that they wouldn't have enjoyed their careers without that thing called FREEDOM. They appreciate freedom.
Anarchy is as far right as you can go and his biggest song is Anarchy in the UK. Should have realized it a while ago.
God save the queen she's not a human being
never thought I'd live to see the day I'd side with Johnny Rotten.
W was never right wing, we always gave the middle finger to the establishment, remember when we fought a civil war to abolish slavery?
Burn Hollywood burn, burn down to the ground....
I’ve long said that Trump is the punk rock president. Anti-Establishment. People looked at me like I was crazy.
Everything's been flipped. Everything.
The pendulum will always swing back. We are reaching the end of the left wing movement that began in the sixties.
The political landscape shows this. The standard is so far left that it must be returned to center.
It has always been this way. He just finally grew up.
He is a prime reason you should never judge a book by it's cover. When you think of the foul mouth lout he used to be you realize it was just the usual youthful 'rebellion' with the spin of media bullshit. He is actually a hell of a man.
His wife has Alzheimer's and he cares for her himself. Won't leave her, doesn't cheat, and won't put her in a care home. He truly believes in those vows he made and it humbles me when I think of how I used to dismiss him so easily because of how the media portrayed him.
He has also remained true to his 'fuck the Establishment' mindset while others in the music industry sold out to The Man. My god if 'rock and roll' becomes establishment we are lost. The one thing you used to be able to rely on was that the youth rebelled, and were invariably Leftwing. Now those same people are on the side of the very establishment they fought against. LOL I thought I was in an alternate universe when I saw old hippies supporting the CIA. WTF?
The world has really been turned on it's head. Be fascinating if it wasn't so damn scary where it might lead to.
His "normal" streak goes back at least 150 years. However he became most vocal when Venice Beach, CA (his home) was overrun by homeless and the city did nothing about it. He says he cleans human shit off his front porch every morning. He cares for his wife (of 40 years) who has Alzheimer's and says the noise outside all night long is ridiculous. Syringes & drug paraphrenalia are all over, what a mess. Venice Beach is now run by the Left and have destroyed it as a place to live.

LOL you made a typo....think you meant 15 years not 150 ;)
Absolutely shocking what they have done to California.
Yeah, 15.
Conservatism is the new punk rock and it absolutely drives lefties mad!
A litany of examples of older 70s-80s "classic" punk songs by bands such as Bad Religion or The Dead Kennedys lyrical context apply perfectly towards the globalist uniparty new world order.
While originally many of these songs were referencing Reagan era bullshit, things like the PMRC... The lyrics themselves define the over powered government and even the brainwashed lefties who idolize it.
And this phenomenon is not isolated to punk, it spans decades and genres. Same enemy and theme, just reinvented musically.
Same
SNIVELING
Anarchists are right wing. The ideology is basically self-determination and golden rule and reject everything in conflict with those 2 things. (Which is A LOT).
The cabal bought and sold punk like it was a fashion statement -- which is why the Left's Antifa thinks they are the punk rockers today.
I think the Left made extra effort to subvert anarchistic ideas and discourse because at its core its just trying to be more like JC.
Said thing is the Left still think they're the counter culture defying the established order...
a crazy timeline we live in
Old Left, New Right. Both just want to be left alone.
she don't want a baby that looks like that he don't want a baby that looks lile that. bodies! I'm not an animal!

She was a girl from Birmingham She just had an abortion She was case of insanity Her name was Pauline, she lived in a tree
She was a no one who killed her baby She sent her letters from the country She was an animal She was a bloody disgrace
Body! I'm not an animal Body! I'm not an animal
Dragged on a table in factory Illegitimate place to be In a packet in a lavatory Die little baby screaming Body screaming fucking bloody mess Not an animal It's an abortion
Body! I'm not animal Mummy! I'm not an abortion
[Spoken] Throbbing squirm, gurgling bloody mess I'm not a discharge I'm not a loss in protein I'm not a throbbing squirm
Fuck this and fuck that Fuck it all and fuck a fucking brat She don't wanna baby that looks like that I don't wanna baby that looks like that Body, I'm not an animal Body, an abortion
Body! I'm not an animal Body! I'm not an animal An animal I'm not an animal..... I'm not an abortion.....
Mummy! UGH!
My lib friends refuse to acknowledge the message of this song.
I saw ol' Johnny perform with Public Image Ltd before covid happened. He had to wear reading glasses to read sheet music on a stand next to the microphone, and he didn't give a crap that he looked like an old geezer doing it.
